First Aid Kit

I want to start a more prepared and organised first aid kit, as one of my pigs (Sula) suffered from a minor bloat over the weekend and it's made me a lot more scared, I feel like it may happen again, luckily she wasn't in pain and was eating and drinking normally, must have been fully bloated for just an hour as I caught it early.
So I need a list of essentials and medicines which can be fed without vets permission for the first signs. I really just want the best for my 4 piggies, they are spoilt girls. Have a 5ftx5ft playhouse all to themselves, and get plenty of cuddles daily. Thanks in advanced;)

Yep, they are defiantly on my list! As well as some kind of syringe food, maybe the Burgess one from viovet? I'll have to look at buying one, I was sat massaging her everytime she talked.
 
Well this has been awkward:P haha! Right, the boys are informing me that it is lunchtime. RIGHT NOW. Do pigs mind if we're busy? Nope.
The whole preparing for emergencies is pretty scary, actually. But at least we can be prepared.
OKAY boys, lunch won't be a minute!

We have got a first aid kit guide in our Caring for an ill guinea pig subsection, as well as other guides that help you look after an ill guinea pig while it is undergoing medical care. ;)

PS: Bloat counts as an emergency and needs to be seen as promptly as possible at any time of the day. It can kill.

What you can have ready is something to vibrate the belly like a massaging car seat or using the handle of an electric toothbrush.
Gripe water may help in MILD cases of bloat that are more caused by ongoing digestive issues, but it won't do the trick in severe cases of full-on bloat or a blockage. It is up to a vet to diagnose appropriately, as treatment will differ.

We had no way of getting there until my step dad came home, and by that time it was gone, she had been running around and letting air out that way, if it was a major one to the fact she wouldn't eat, drink, move or was in a hunched back position I think I would have worried more... She is quite a pig in herself (she weighs 1200g), I think she may have over indulged in veggies (stealing everyone else's), may have been kale that triggered it, so I have cut back on them and thinking about changing their 2 meals a day into 3, then it won't be so much on their digestive system.. I'm still young (14) and learning more and more, forever researching, my pigs mean the world to me and I wouldn't let anything happen to them:nod:
