Hello is it possible that a foot spur could be inside the first toe rather than the outside of the foot? I thought maybe they were normally on the outside. It’s the front paw inside first toe. Because it’s inside close to others it’s been so hard to get a picture of! But I will add a picture as soon as I can to this thread.

Thanks 🙏🏼

Hi

A picture would help but spurs can grow on the sides of the food pads of the front feet on all sides and not just on the outside of feet.

The best way to upload a picture is by using the Attach Files button underneath your post when you write it as not all devices are supported when you try the icons etc.

So do those spurs hurt the pig? Because Marigold has those on her foot right now. I read your link and saw the picture. I just thought that it was natural part of her foot.🤦‍♀️

These are the best I have been able to do but they aren’t great. Difficult to do as she’s only 8 months so tiny front foot 😬

Thanks so much. Hers is in between the toe. I guess I’m not 100% sure if it’s a spur either as would be my first pig to have them. Thanks for your help

Thank you! I know hard to tell from these pics. It’s like it’s attached to the toe. I will t it seen by a vet if needed. She doesn’t seem to have any sore or tenderness there though she wasn’t fussed at all me trying to get in there and take a pic x

Thats good to hear! My pig Maui had something like that when I first got her. It turned out to be poo stuck to her foot because it fell off when I picked her up. I hope yours is the same!

That looks more like a bit poo or something similar stuck to the toe? See whether you can soak it and then work it off gently.

This is maybe a slightly better picture

It doesn't look like a spur at all and more like something stuck from or a potentially ripped off nail (makes the toe look thicker and more stumpy) from what I can make out. I did have a look at all your pictures.

Slightly better pictures! It’s like a growth on the toe?

Hi

Please see a vet. Without hands-on access to have a look and feel of the toe ourselves we cannot tell you for sure what the issue is just from your pictures without playing guessing games. Online support has its limitations and this is unfortunately one.
