Hi guys! I just bought my guinea pigs a new c&c cage and wanted to fill it with lots of hideys and things.
More importantly i wanted to ask yall about the best hideys.
I already ordered a wooden house and fiddle sticks.
i wanted a plastic one (such as igloos - easier to clean). But i heard that they aren’t ventilated enough.
Do you think foot stools are good alternative? I'm just worried if i replace foot stools with wooden hideys/ igloos they won’t feel safe enough bc of the big doors.
Also i wanted to put a hammock on top to give them more entertainment and to have a better view of their sorroundings.
Are guinea pigs able to jump 20 cm safely ? Mines already do but their current hidey is 15 cm high.

I use old dresser drawers for my hideouts, with holes cut out on three sides, this way it doubles as a hide and chew :) (The wood is 100% safe!). I cut up fleece and put it over the entrance of the hides and they love it, as it doesnt entirely expose them or close them off, plus they really like the frills. My girls also LOVE these certain hammocks, where they can go both inside and ontop!

Thank you all so much! Yall been very helpful! I’ve already ordered 2!

Do you know if it’s safe for piggies to jump as high as 20cm? Thanks!

Piggies who can jump, will jump!
They should only jump to a height they are comfortable with.
They, should they be so inclined, can jump to around 30cm but going that far is not as common

I have piggy a house which is 20cm high and my youngster easily jumps on top of it.

I used to joke that my RB Robbie was a squirrel in a past life, I have no idea how he managed some of the stuff he did with such stubby legs! If I had him in a C&C I'd be considering extra panels as well as he could easily have managed 20cm; alternatively we have a lid for our current C&C cage which works well for the hides we have.
