Latest update:
My calls didn't get answered yesterday so I rang the ward. They took the phone to him but he made no sense and kept drifting off. Today my call were again not answered. When I called the ward they said he didn't want to talk. I asked for an update about his health but was informed that he had withdrawn consent for me to be told.
I can only summise that he's had the worst news and doesn't want me to know. We are making arrangements to get a hotel for a couple of nights so we can visit.
 
He's still not taking my calls. Unfortunately we have an important commitment today that could maybe be postponed, but our trusted pigsitter isn't available today so we'll be going tomorrow. Hopefully he lasts until then.

He's in a side room and on palliative care. He's at peace with it during his (few) lucid moments, which has given me some emotional relief. I'll be very surprised if he lasts until the end of the month but you never know. I have messaged @AidaB so no panic about arrangements.
I reiterate how grateful I am to be a member of this wonderful forum. The kindness, empathy and knowledge of support is making a difficult time in my life so much less stressful ❤️
 
Been there with both of my parents and my partner’s mum in the past 3 years. Its good if you’ve found some breathing space. Take care 💕 and cuddle your piggies - they’re such great support 🤗
