We are now waiting for a hospice/nursing home transfer. I'm happy with this as the chance of being on his own when the time comes is much lower.

Hospices are good places, supporting both the patient and families.
They care for the whole person and value each one right up until the end.
People are enabled to pass away with dignity and freedom from pain or discomfort.
I hope your father gets a place quickly.
