I have arranged to take in two girls from Facebay (Facebook) tomorrow just to make sure they do not get given to someone who will feed them to snakes etc.

They will be in the spare room upstairs away from the boys but I do not think it will be a permanent thing.

Just couldn't see them going into the wrong hands :(

They're beautiful, thank goodness you are able to take them.

They are gorgeous little piggies! I would love to take them off of your hands, but I fear the distance is a little far! I wish you the very best of luck in finding them their forever homes. Also, please do not feel bad about not being able to keep them permanently! I don't think for a minute that you'd let anyone who you thought wouldn't take exemplary care f them have them. =)

They are arriving at 6:30pm tomorrow. I just hope the lady brings them, had to fight around 15 people!
Not at all, you are getting them out of a potentially dangerous situation.

Thanks Helen you have put my mind at rest.

@Goth Mummy & @Chief Guinea Pig I don't know why people end up giving pets away like this :(

@Malice I'm not sure if the piggy train could help with that or not?

I'm so pleased you've got them safely so that they can look for a permanent good home. They look lovely x

Thanks Vicki!

Martha is the brown one and the white and brown is Miley lol

Hope they arrive safely and good on you for being their guardian angel! Think of them as fosters and know that, as their foster parent, you have the priveledge of finding them a safe and loving home :)

Wow, they are rather gorgeous! Thank goodness you got to them first, I hope everything goes smoothly.

Is there an recommended amount of time for me to foster them?

I think if it was me I would want to quarantine them to make sure I was not rehoming a poorly pig to someone. That would be at least 2 weeks wouldn't it?
Do you have anyone in mind to rehome them to? Our vets does free guinea pig and rabbit health checks once a month with the vet nurse - I think its the basic teeth/claws/check for parasites. Maybe worth bearing in mind in case your vet offers that service?

Ok, that is good. I don't have anyone in mind at the moment. I am able to take them so far on bus as I have a bus pass so can be reasonably flexible.

My vet do check ups, not free but at a low price.

I am happy to have them even for the six weeks and over Christmas/New Year depending on who wants to give them their permanent home. Won't be giving them to someone for Christmas gifts etc.

Do you know what, I would look at other vets that you can get to on the bus, as another local one may offer a free check, its worth investigating. More and more vets round us are doing free dental/parasite checks as "special event" days etc if you look on their FB pages etc. I think you are lovely for taking them in!

Thank you for your help! I will look into it tonight as I'm on my way to the hospital. Will also update on the girls if they arrive x

Well done for taking these beauties in. Hope they settle and you can find them forever home sometime soon x

Good luck at the hospital. See if you can get the new owners to join TGPF - I would love to see more photos of the lovely Miley!

Will have to speak to them a little more and explain that the piggies will need to be inside over winter and see if they will agree; not doing so otherwise as they don't have sheds etc. They are thinking insulated hutch on their flats veranda.

The hospital was ok, it was day one of an anxiety group. Lost my bus pass on the way there so my friend had to pick me up. No sign of the pass yet :lol!:

@theoretikos, I have never used the guinea pig train, so I had not considered that possibility! However, I see that you have potentially found them a forever home much closer to you, which will probably be much less stressful for the piggies (and much easier for yourself, too). Do keep us all up to date on the beautiful girls though. ^_^

I will do. They will hopefully be here in 25 mins :)

That's a relief that they arrived as planned. I hope they settle in quickly. A huge well done to you xx

Thank you :) They are being left in peace in a semi dark room tonight, have given them a pile of hay and a few hideys. Hopefully get to speak to them tomorrow. They were giving me the stink eye

Was the anxiety group good? Loosing my bus pass would have probably made me give up and stay at home! I bet you are glad to have them safely with you
