We got Jimmy out tonight and have found what appears to be something fungal on his nose/mouth. It’s come on since last night as that’s when I last saw him up close, so it’s come on quite quickly. I’ll be emailing the vets a photo to take a look at but as it’s night time here in the UK, I was hoping for some more immediate advice/opinions.
Thanks!

PS: Please ignore the red/pink tint around his mouth, we had to bribe him to stay still with some pepper!

It’s hard to tell from the photo - Does it look like something on the fur or on the skin itself? It doesn’t completely look like what I’d expect to see for a fungal infection though but it could be that it looks different in person when compared to what’s come across in a picture?

Hi!

It rather looks like something has stuck to the lip. See whether it is falling off on its instead of trying to rip it off.

It doesn't look like cheilitis (lip infection) to me.

It’s something on the skin opposed to the fur I think, but I don’t think it’s something stuck to his lip (unless it’s boar glue, which is something our boys have blessed us not to have experience with so far). It almost looks like dandruff stuck to the skin? I’m getting better photos now, I’m just making sure not to stress him out to badly as he’s a very anxious little piggy.

Super quick update - he’s too stressed to get another photo but we had a look inside his mouth and whatever it is is definitely around his lips and on his chin. He’s eating fine and we wouldn’t have noticed anything different about him at all apart from this! It’s definitely not bothering him at the minute but I’ll still email the vets a picture tomorrow.

It may just not be coming across in photos because it does look like something stuck to the fur rather than the scaly dry looking skin of a fungal infection.
Let us know how you get on tomorrow
