Furbabies' Adventures

Last night, Pino did something so sweet and clever.
He was under my sofa, not wanting to go back into their cage. (Sometimes I suspect that he doesn't like to go back to meet Kylie. 🙈)
Yesterday, they had a special treat, a fancy hay cookie. The girls were already eating their's and food is only given inside the cage. Pino has learned this already.

So Pino is still under the sofa. I'm trying to encourage him too go back. Not a chance!
Then I Iet him snif at the hay cookie but didn't give it to him. Just moved it a little bit toward the cage, not too far so Pino could still smell it.

He smelled at it, he came one or two steps along. That he stopped and you could nearly see him thinking. And that he ran off towards the cage, his usual way under the second sofa, away from the hay cookie.
In the cage he clearly waited for me to follow and collect his hay cookie.
I'm very proud of my little boy! ❤️

He is just the cutest most lovely boy ❤️
 
Since Pino is "just to good to be real" and I had the suspicion that his hearing could be impaired, we had an appointment with the specialist vet at the university hospital today.
He was checked through thouroughly, including some neurological tests. He might be hard of hearing but he did react to the hearing test at the second try so he is definitely not deaf.

I had told the vet a little bit about his unusual behaviour before the visit. Don't know if he wanted to test his inquisitive nature. 🙈
Anyway, there are always students present, today there were two. I had warned them that Pino can be very quick. One of the students held Pino but struggling to keep him sitting still. And the vet suggested to put him on the floor. Of course the door was closed.
The usual behaviour of a guinea pig in this situation would have been to freeze or to dash in some direction to find cover.

What did Pino do?
He found it quite cool and interesting and started to wander around and explore. He was just pretty fed up when he was caught again, put on the table and examined. I haven't seen him that fed up before.

The final diagnosis: Pino is a truely special piggy. :wub:
 
The others came along as well. Kylie shows a bit of laboured breathing from time to time, not much, just more than the others.
So her heart and lungs were checked as well.
It was very exhausting. She is still completely knocked out. Didn't even notice I was taking this pigture. :yikes:

Lovely to hear that Pino passed all the vets tests.

The picture of Odi was posted in 2021.
Sadly Odi has since passed away.
He was a gorgeous boy and his successor as husboar is Pino, a very cute teddy

Ohhh I'm so sorry, I didt notice dates, still a newbie to the site , sorry for your loss but happy to hear the new husboar has joined the gang xx
