Furbabies' Adventures

We are expecting up to 36 or 37 ° on Thursday.
Wishing you cooler temps! Ours went down to mid-20's today, tho elevation-wise we're higher up than Vienna, so that makes a difference. In lower places round here like the Upper Rhine Valley, it was undoubtedly a bit warmer.

Pino is the sweetest little boy you can imagine. He is taking food from my hand and comes to me when I'm sitting on the living room floor while they are free roaming.
Sometimes I wonder if he sees his most friendly female in me. 😂
Boars are often sweet gentle piggies - dear Pino he knows how much you love him
Hopefully he might put naughty Kylie in her place one day

A trip to Vienna is definitely needed to meet Pino 🥰🥰🥰🥰
But no pignapping!

I might be tempted about Kylie though she is a really sweet girl when it comes to human interaction. She is my only piggy who likes me to stroke her inside the cage. She sits still for quite some time.
It's just the other piggies ...

Pino usually falls fast asleep under my sofa during free roaming time. And I mean really fast asleep.
He doesn't wake up when I look under the sofa and talk to him. Today he was slowly waking up but not ready to go back to the cage ... and I was allowed to scratch his chin.
Can you believe this boy?
He clearly isn't a normal guinea pig. I'm just not sure what he could be. :hmm:

Today I phoned the specialist vet to hear what he thinks about Pino's unusual behaviour. He confirmed my suspicion that Pino could be deaf or at least hard of hearing.
The most likely cause would be an ear infection. Though he doesn't show any of the usual symptoms. But we will treat him with antibiotics to see if it changes anything. If not, we will do a CT, but not during the summer heat.
He is not going to like it.

Free roaming time used to be easy. My girls were really good about going back to the cage at the end of free roaming.
And then came Pino ...

He loves free roaming time and snoozing under my sofa. When it's time to go back, I have to get him to move with my outstrechted arm. He usually sits just so far away that I can't reach him or that I can touch him with my finger tips. Sometimes he even comes a bit closer to snif at my fingers ... but does he come out?
No, he moves in the other direction and it takes so long to persuade him that usually one of the girls wanders out again.

One of the signs that I'm really really really serious about Pino going back us that I put some pillows down to block off the way in the wrong direction.
Once I've got him so far, he goes back to the cage.
Yesterday Kylie was outside again. She doesn't seem to have see the pillows before (I don't have to use them every evening). So when I tried to get her back to the cage - after Pino was finally inside - she wandered off to investigate the pillows.
