Gas Or Bloat Again

Just had a look at Minja. Her left side is hollow when I tap it, I'll try to post a video soon for anyone to hear it. I can't get into the vets right now as the only 24/7 emergency vet aren't good with guinea pigs at all and would rather avoid her being treated for the wrong thing. I'm completely unsure as what to do yet again, any help is very appreciated.
 
Minja is now refusing to eat anything, including hay or veg (though I won't be giving her any now) any help is appreciated
 
Is she pooing? Is there any gurgling from her tummy, is it swollen?

Bloat is a medical emergency and depending on it being gas or fluid is treated differently. You really could do with getting her to a vet. If she has bloat and is not passing poo or eating... How long has she been like this?
 
Yes, she's pooing I think. I have heard gurgling today, but I'm not sure who it's from in the three of them. It feels a little tighter on the left side. I'm not sure how long she's been like this either honestly.

I am placing her on a snuggle safe and am going to massage her with an electric toothbrush if it's possibly gas if that's okay?
 
Hi ,try a warm waterbottle on her tummy , but anytink you try is just a stop gap, and l apolagize for being so blunt but Bloat is very serous, and painfull condion,

Your pig can go into shock and die in pain

the emegancy vet will have the knolage to know what to perscribe for this condition
DIY meds could make things a lot worse and lead to a pianfull death

Ok. Being blunt is much more helpful than sugar coating it, so thank you. Is there anything I can do other than the water bottle in the meantime? My mum is ringing the vets now.
 
no just keep her warm an cofortable
get the carria ready and line it with fleese to make the jurny comfortable.

You are dooing the right thing
 
I will. Should I tak a water bottle or hay if I cam get her in?

Oh goodness I'm literally crying. I feel really guilty because I noticed this today but just thought it was her being overweight
 
you could take a water bottle just in case she has to stay in , but usualy the vet will give her an ingection and give you meds to take home with you

Please do not feel guilty , it is naturaral to cry at stessfull times like this

Thank you so much. The vet told me to take her tomorrow which we will and to keep an eye on her. I'm not really satisfied with this though.

Edit; the Beccles road vet said to leave taking her if she's not making any noise I meant
 
:shh: l have been crying in happines for a pig cauld Marge , she has had a right dificult time latly , she had a prolaps and has had opperations and meds
for a few weeks now,
but now she is all healed
it is a great feeling
 
Oh that's lovely, I'm so happy to hear Marge recovered :)

Also, Minja is eating now! Somewhat anyway. She will try to grab at veg, but will ignore the hay or give it a nibble and leave it.
 
Can't edit my last post, so apologies for double post

I've had to put Minja in a quick 2x3 setup because Ginny was really bothering her. She's the only one who digs up the fleece to get to the puppy pads underneath. As it's nearly one am and everyone's trying to sleep with my racket, I don't have the time to pull up the fleeces to take out the pads. She's still not drinking :( She isn't eating hay either. even with the other two she spent all of her time in a house and didn't attempt to join them eating at the hay rack. Her poos are fine too, took half a hour for them to start though. Her (possible) bloat/gas went down but it's showing in/on her stomach again unfortunately. I'll be up all night so should be able to keep an eye on her.
 
l was just looking on verous sights incuding this one, for remadies for gassy tummies , to see if l could pass on the link to you
but they are all of the same oppinion , bloat is caused by many differant things and is difficult and dangerous to self treat ,

How is she now
 
Thank you. I definitely won't be administering any medications without a vet. I have heard grape (is that what it is? I think it's gripe?) water helps or something?

She was sitting on my lap a minute ago. Still fussy about eating hay, won't touch her water and it's been too long. She's a generally good drinker and has more than the other two would. Her left side still appears kinda hollow when I tap it and a tiny bit tight, but much better than when I first made the thread.
 
hi l ,m glad you wount be administering meds
l think you meen gripe water for babies , that is one of the meds
on the lists , the problem may be that the gp,s tummy differs from a
humans , and it could cause more halm than good of the wrong one is given.

the only truly safe remerdy would seem to be walm water :hmm:
 
Ah ok. Would I just put some in the water bottle so it's lukewarm?

Also, she's started eating hay and drinking water without me having to put her in front of it (even then, she'd go off anyway) :D She's been eating hay for about ten minutes now.

is how you would do it ,it is a old human remerdy and as to wheter it
works is anyone gess
but at least it is 100persent natural
 
Sorry for the late reply! It's gone down almost completely and its unnoticeable looking at her, but still a hollow tap. My dad's decided he wants to take me shopping and not sure what to do
 
if she has already been to the vets , what did he say? any meds ?
if not you realy need to take her
 
She hasn't. They said there aren't any appointments as its Sunday and they said going by what's been said, it should be ok to leave her for tomorrow and she'll go then.
