|) We thought we would stop at six but 'accidently
' homed four more baby girls a couple of weeks ago - sooo addictive
Preparing to try bonding the young ones with the older two girls today as they have been quarantined for 2.5 weeks and been health checked. All clear and very healthyso the grids will be coming out after the neutral introductions if all goes ok. Very nervous though as they have only been able to see and sniff each other through the grids for the past week - lots of curiosity and popcorning so paws crossed rolleyes
Having 10 really hasn't made that much difference financially, just longer to clean out and feed twice a day as we have four adjoining pens in total. No matter how tired I feel before or after work, it all has to be done. Washing vet bed etc. takes the most time up for us but that aside, would have MORE piggies|)

I find that, but I don't think I'll agree if something happens to them!
I've got a herd of 7 and a pair, and I think my herd is going to increase to either 12 or 14 in a few weeks time depending on who I fall for at the rescue!
Mine aren't on fleece so I don't have the washing to do, just more often cleanouts now (can only just get a week out of their sawdust bedding as opposed to about a week and a half!). They definitely take up more time, but they are more than worth it!
I threw my 'limit' out about 3 months ago. Said I'd only go up to 5, then only 9, now my limit's gone and I'll adopt 5-7 more in a few weeks. Then I think I'll be done... (but not limited!) for now, at least.![]()
Think it's ok having so many but we also have to consider vets bills as you say. I have a boar who has needed ongoing treatment recently and after further tests, has to have surgery on Tuesday 8... for a bladder stone. One of the new girls has an old injury to her eye which cost £40 for a consultation yesterday (with no treatment) so these are the facts we have to weigh up with so many to care for. In less than two months, I have spent £300+ on vet fees - £130 alone this week so know things can happen but always make sure I keep a little 'piggy bank fund' to one side for the unexpected.
I am stopping at 12 now - I'm running out of living room and the group has reached a good size in itself... mallethead
While the daily expenses have actually not gone up so much, any treatment that involves the tribe as whole (like mites) has.
Here is a little picture of the lilac/argente boar:

Name ideas anyone?
