Even though I only had you a few days I loved you more than you'll ever know... I wish my love could have saved you because you would still be with me today running around, playing, eating and being loved. I don't quite understand what could have gone wrong, but I know you're in a better place now running around with no pain. I'll miss you but will always remember you, love you Peppa and Hazel xoxo

BIG HUGS!
I am so sorry that Hazel and Peppa couldn't find you in time to save their lives. You have done your best after they have been let down so badly by their previous owners.

Popcorn free together at the Rainbow Bridge, Peppa and Hazel!

Thank you... I'm going to wait about a week or so and try to see if the MSPCA has a couple of guinea pigs I can adopt... I know I shouldn't feel guilty because I remember rescuing a very sick piggie from a pet shop years ago, I spoiled him and nursed him back to health and he lived almost 9 years. So, I know I didn't do anything but I still wish I could have saved them.

You wouldn't be a caring person if you weren't feeling guilty, angry and deeply upset all at once about losing your new two piggies upon arrival, just because their previous owners were so keen to get rid of them so they didn't have to pay for any vet care that they lied through their teeth when they sold them to you. :(

But glad that you still want to give two unwanted/neglected piggies a loving home - and loving it will be!

As it is obviously something infective, please use a strong disinfectant to drench everything and let air dry. Wash any fabrics at at least 140 F (60 C) to make sure that nothing is carried across. Get a new water bottle.
I would also recommend to wait a couple of weeks to make sure that any bugs have died.
LD disinfectant is the most recommended brand for the US from what I know, but Virkon or F10 are also good (F10 is the brand we recommend for the UK for deep cleaning as it also addresses ringworm/fungal spores and microbes, and not just bacteria like the usual disinfectants; it is used by vets over here).

I''m so sorry for your losses and that you didn't have longer together. But they knew they were loved at the end and that is really important. Popcorn free little ones.

I don't know the story behind this. What I can see throu the messages you tried to rescue these piggies. if that's correct and they have died before you could have saved them. Then good on you for trying and I say head up and be proud. Piggie world Needs people like you. x

I'm definitely going to wait a while... I threw out all the food bowls, water bottles I had and will buy all new food and hay as well as bowls and water bottles. I even threw out the hay bins I had and hideouts just in case. The cage I have is the Midwest guinea pig cage (I actually have two) so the bottom is lined with a heavy duty liner that I will put in the wash with hot water, I use fleece for their bedding and have tons of it so I'll throw out the ones that were in the cage and put down some new ones. Then in a couple of weeks I'll go to a shelter to adopt some new piggies and give them a very loving home where they will be very spoiled.

I'm such an animal lover and I hate when animals are neglected! Breaks my heart! I also know a lot about rodents because I once bred syrian hamsters (I researched all hamster breeds, rats, mice, gerbils and guinea pigs for years prior to owning any of them), I was really good at it too. I'd hand raise them and I never gave them to pets shops, instead I'd give them to loving families along with a proper cage and all the supplies they needed. My hamsters were very sweet, I was also the first breeder in Massachusetts to have the yellow gene which would create calico hamsters from the black and white syrians. I also spoiled them, they were all very large in size (not overweight) to the UK standard for show hamsters.

Thank you! I pretty much went on Craigslist and saw someone wanting to rehome two female guinea pigs (for a fee of course to ensure they go to a good home), they looked healthy from what I could tell, but I knew something was wrong because while driving them home one of them was squeaking a lot, and not the happy squeak :( One died 6 hours later from having her and the other finally passed away this morning after a couple of days. I even took the one that passed this morning to the vet and he seemed to think she was OK just grieving... but sadly wasn't the case. I did what I could for them, I had them in a huge enclosure (like a palace) I even tried to console Hazel... I'll wait a couple of weeks before I go to a shelter to rescue another two. I've thrown out a lot of the items I had in the cage (water bottles and bowls too) and will disinfect the enclosure I have and let it sit for a week just in case. I don't want to go through this again, I'm so sad and heartbroken over this.

I am so sorry for the loss of your piggies, it is truly heartbreaking and something was certainly amiss there I am afraid. Poor little babies :( I am so very sorry you have been through this heartbreak. Massive hugs. In time when you feel ready you will make a really caring owner that is plain to see x

Sleep well pretty girls

RIP Peppa & Hazel

Oh dear. That is very sad. You were ready to explode with love for these two. I can't say much to help. But seriously time is your friend now and we all have emotions handled in differant ways. I be honest and I've had a couple of tears :bye: cos they have missed out. Hopefully them piggies knew you were their. My piggie died on way back from vets been given a clean health. Their little body's are weak at times. Horrible person who sold them to you. Time will allow you to reflect and you need to know It was not your fault. Sorry. RIP Beautiful piggies. Short time long Love. x

So sorry about your loss. Thank you for giving even a short period of love and kindness to these two beautiful piggies. Big hugs to you.

Sleep tight, little ones. RIP Peppa and Hazel. X
