Good news about the surgery going well
. Hopefully Mallow will feel much better now without they pesky ovaries.
If Mallow has not had a bad reaction to baytril, I would be inclined to give it a go if it was one mine, but stop the moment she loses her appetite. But I have been lucky in that none of mine has ever had more than some softish poo and a slightly diminished appetite at the worst in reaction to baytril.
The vet gave her an injection of baytril at the end of the surgery to kickstart it, so i am just going to continue the course as that could just potentially complicate things if i dont and she develops infection. And you're right, guess i wont know till i try and its better to er on the side of caution with regards to infection. Shes home and eating pellets (naughty burgess!) and oat hay but not keen to move around much. On the right path for now!
Give her 2-3 days time for the body to settle down after the op. For the first day, all you are aiming for is for her to ideally eat and rest. From day two, you want her to gradually pick up her normal life if that is possible. Post-op is often a bit of an up and down, so brace yourself for that.
Thank you. Shes in the hospital cage for now as the baby is a bit too mental! She ate cucumber and tomato when she came round at the vets but none since shes been home (the others just had their tea so i offered her some). Iv given her 5ml cc with avipro plus in- she took it in her cage whilst she was in her bed so no need to move her. I'll top her up every couple of hours whilst shes willing to take it in her cage just to make sure shes getting enough. Iv weighed her and took a pic of her wound for comparison on her way from the carrier to her cage. At least thats out the way so she doesnt need lifted again tonight and can have a good rest. How is connie @VickiA
Hi @Adelle sounds like Mallow is doing well.
Connie is a bit wobbly on her pins and up and down. She was thrilled to be home again and tucked into a pile of hay. Since then she's nibbled on a few veg and a couple of pellets so I've just given her a syringe feed as well as her ABs. She seems to enjoy the syringe feed in smallish amounts so it will be little and often through the night. She's a piggy prone to bloat so I've got a supply of Zantac and metocloporamide in case things start to head that way but hopefully we won't need them.
Fingers crossed both your young lady and my older lady both have a comfortable night.

Just went to give mallow her third cc feed to find shes eaten some veg and pulled at her alfalfa hay ring. Theres poos over by the meadow hay so shes been in at that too! Definately think the cc is given her an appetite as she hasnt had anymore pain relief. Here she is after her feed at 9 and a little face wash with a warm flannel- she loved that! Shes fairly bright. Theres a pic of her wound i took when she got home for comparison for the days to come incase anyones interested :-)
