Goodbye goofy. I'm so sorry :(

Thank you to all who offered advise to me after goofys neutering on Friday. He was doing well, pooping, eating etc. came down this morning to a horrific sight. Blood everywhere and goofy dead in his house with insides outside. Feel sick and soooooooo guilty. He was fine at midnight when I checked him. Can't stop crying, how am I going to tell my son? Thought I was doing a good thing getting him a wife, now I wish I had just left him on his own.
 
I am so so so sorry to hear about such a tragic loss. This is such a shock for you all.
Please dont feel guilty there is nothing you could have done, sometimes the decisions are made by higher powers in life 8.... You did the right thing trying to get him a wife and he would have thanked you for trying to save him from being alone.

Oh my god I am so so sorry to hear this. What an awful thing to have happened. Please do not feel guilty. You were trying to make him happy by having a wife and this is just an awful tragedy. I am so sorry for your loss.

You mustn't beat yourself up about it though. It wasn't your fault, these things happen.

That must be awful for you...I'm so so sorry! I wish there was something I could do or say to make things better :(
 
Thank you for your kind words. I just feel so sick. He was an amazing friendly piggy. So glad my kids weren't the ones to find him.

Was Goofy on his own?

I know it's no consolation, but I doubt what happened could have been prevented. It either sounds like he had some kind of accident (stitches caught etc.), or it was self mutilation.

You can't watch them 24 hours a day, you have nothing to feel guilty about. You were ultimately doing something to improve his life, this just sounds like an incredibly unfortunate accident.

Your vet may be able to give you more answers by examining his body. They will be operating an emergency service today so they will still be contactable. You will also be able to discuss cremation options with them if you don't wish to/are unable to bury him at home.

I am so sorry about what happened. Self mutilations and/or accidents like these are rare.

Poor Goofy! I am so sorry for you all that it has ended so horribly.

So sorry whats happened to your Goofy. RIP little guy. As others have said, this kind of thing is very rare, sounds like he pulled his stitches out and self mutulated. Really not your fault at all, very rarely happens. Dont blame yourself. So sorry you had to see something like this.

awww hun I'm so sorry you lost goofy this way but please don't beat yourself up about it, you were tyring to do your best for him and you could never have anticipated this would happen. As others have said it's very rare, I think in my entire life I've only ever heard of 2 other cases.
Maybe see if you can have him cremated? I have some of my pigs ashes on the fireplace and it's a comfort :)

I'm sorry what happened to goofy, this is why I don't neuter boys unless due to health problems, I worry for complications and to give them a reason to self mutilate, though its quite rare.
 
O, how awful, you think to do something good for him, so that he can enjoy female company and now this happens... I hope Goofy will have plenty of sows in his afterlife, but it must be terrible for you to miss him...

What the OP has experienced is a very rare occurance.

If you are considering neutering Bill for female companionship but now aren't keen, have you considered boar dating?

I can't tell you how awful I feel for you but as everyone has said, please, please don't feel guilty or blame yourself.

We have to take risks in life and you did this for the best of motives, to give your wee man a chance at a happy life!

omg such a sock for you to find him like this, you did the right thing, i have some boars on their own and I'm sure they would be better with a female, so theres nothing wrong for you trying to make his life better
