Junior Guinea Pig
So Last night had my first piggy pet loss
Have dealt with a piggy PTS before - who was a rescue but Daisy was the girl we bought for company for Gus & Duke when we first had them neutered then decided to expand...
We nicknamed her Lazy Daisy at times because she would just comfily sprawl out and lay there ignoring the rest. She was only about 10 months which is absolutely gutting.
In hindsight we realise she probably had a lifelong disorder of some sorts. hard to explain but as much as she COULD Get hyper and run about mad most of the time she chose not to. I had her out on the 1st for night time cuddles and she was quieter than normal but I didnt realise anything was up. Yesterday she was amongst the others eating and drinking as normal
Then last night I walk past the piggy pen going to bed and they all start wheeking at me as always like they're starved, so I gave them all a pat and fresh hay. Was only when I went to leave I realised I hadn't seen Daisy. She was under a log bridge curled up just looked sleeping...
So I put a wee handful of hay beside her and tried to pat her and realised she felt odd...second feel of her to feel if she was breathing confirmed what my gut had told me.
I have never felt shock and fright like it, and still feel awful, didn't sleep much last night. She had a bloody nose when I found her so not sure if that means she did have some disorder, or brain issue etc. She was out of sorts for a few days but no obvious sign of typical illnesses.
So this morning I have the task of telling my 5 year old who favoured Daisy over the others, picked her out of 20+ in pets at home when we got her, and gave her cuddles every day... that she can't anymore.
Sweet Daisy, rest in peace little one
