My pigs (two pregnant girls and one (neutered!) male) go out on the grass every morning and come in at dusk and we also pick them a big pile of long grass and give to them every day. They also have unlimited horse hay (its long strands so I think timothy), I also give them mixed veg every day (spinach, kale, cucumber, pepper, cabbage most days and other bits like courgette, carrot etc occasionally) - i dont measure the amount just throw in a few handfuls. They also have vit c tablet daily
My question - if they have lots of grass do they still need all of this veg? Does the grass count as vegetable or hay?
I'm worried that the male is fat, Ive looked at the size chart but cant tell and obviously its difficult to tell with the girls being so pregnant. Do I drastically reduce vegetable quantities just in case? Do others separate pregnant and non pregnant pigs for feeding?
The difference between grass, hay and vegeies has been annoying me for ages, I just cant work out how they compare and whether grass contains all that they need.
