2 days ago, my guinea pig was doing fine, nothing abnormal. Yesterday I found out that she seemed to have something in her mouth because she kept opening her mouth as if she was yawning but it was obvious to tell that there was something in her mouth she didn't want there.

Today, it seems that she doesn't have anything stuck in her mouth anymore (at least I don't think so, I haven't seen her struggle with her mouth today), however, she hasn't eaten or drank anything since morning. We gave her wet lettuce in the morning to make sure that she was at least getting some food and water, but later in the evening she didn't want anything.

I had to use a syringe to give her water. Half way through, I didn't have to put the syringe all the way in her mouth, she was simply drinking from the end of it normally.

Most of the day today, she has been sitting in her corner of the cage, slightly puffed up at times, sometimes laying down. I think she's eating bits of hay here and there but not much.

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

P.S. She is about 4.5 years old, so I don't think it's old age.

It is possible that she had an obstruction in her mouth & it may have gone now. It could have been causing her not to be able to et or drink & her drinking from the syringe now is her re-hydrating after a lack of water. Minky did this in December when she was ill & in one 10 minute session drank about 20 1ml syringes of water by just putting the syringe in front of her & she grabbed it and drank. I would keep a watch on her to make sure she's ok now. If she is still not 100% then she needs a trip to the vet's to see what's wrong.

If she is not eating you need to see a vet. Also the fact she is in a corner puffed up and laying down is a sign of an unwell guinea pig. Guinea pigs can go downhill very quickly when they are unwell. It could be a dental issue that is stopping her from eating so best get her checked out. In the meantime I would suggest hand feeding her little and often whatever she will eat.

I agree with Wind1, not eating, puffed up facing away etc is a sign of an unwell piggy. Please see a piggy savvy vet asap.
