2 days ago, my guinea pig was doing fine, nothing abnormal. Yesterday I found out that she seemed to have something in her mouth because she kept opening her mouth as if she was yawning but it was obvious to tell that there was something in her mouth she didn't want there.
Today, it seems that she doesn't have anything stuck in her mouth anymore (at least I don't think so, I haven't seen her struggle with her mouth today), however, she hasn't eaten or drank anything since morning. We gave her wet lettuce in the morning to make sure that she was at least getting some food and water, but later in the evening she didn't want anything.
I had to use a syringe to give her water. Half way through, I didn't have to put the syringe all the way in her mouth, she was simply drinking from the end of it normally.
Most of the day today, she has been sitting in her corner of the cage, slightly puffed up at times, sometimes laying down. I think she's eating bits of hay here and there but not much.
Does anyone know what could be wrong?
P.S. She is about 4.5 years old, so I don't think it's old age.
