Senior Guinea Pig
My little Toby is really poorly, he has had a nasal discharge for 8weeks. He has had Baytril initially, we decided to do a nasal flush, swab, bloods and X-rays last Thursday.
After the sedation he was eating happily but went downhill and I've been topping him up but he's still losing weight. He was nibbling but sitting hunched constantly in his cage. When I bring him out the cage he's quite the explorer and you wouldn't think anything was wrong.
He's on antibiotics, but his guts had certainly slowed. This morning he had an injection of ranitidine (Zantac), cerenia and Emeprid. Since we've been home, in his cage he'll attempt to eat nothing. However when I bring him out for syringe feeding suddenly he wants to eat all the hay? Anybody else had a guinea pig, who likes to pretend all is well to avoid the syringe food?
