Hello everyone. My rescued piggy is at least 6 years old. She has a very large cyst on her back which the vet said to leave alone, he gave antibiotics which she took for 10 days. This was 2 months ago. It is still oozing a little bit, which was why I took her to the vet in the first place. I had hoped he would lance it but he thought it would be better to leave it alone. Should I go back and insist it is dealt with in one way or another? She eats well and scampers about happily, she seems fine but as I said it is a very large cyst and I wonder if I should see a different vet for a second opinion.

Please see a second vet. Her age is playing some role; but with an experienced vet an operation should be an option. my Tesni was 6 years old when she needed an infected cyst removing that was sitting very close to her genitalia. She has made a full recovery without any major hickups.

It would be much easier for us to help you with recommendations if you please added your country, state/province or UK county to your details by clicking on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and scroll down to location. This makes it appear with every post you make and allows us to tailor any advice straight away to what is available and relevant where you are. We have members and enquires from all over the world. Thank you!

There is a recommended UK vets locator on the top bar, but we can also provide a link to recommended vets in some other countries if wished.
