Guinea Pig With Arched Back?

Hi Bubblegum I'm glad you seem to be feeling more positive this morning.
I'm not sure what my daughter used on them, I know she was very lucky that the treatment worked first time. If you search the site for ringworm you will find lots of posts. Some poor folk had an awful job getting rid of it.

Spot on treats mites (or is supposed to), but Ringworm would need treatment with either Itrafungol oral medication, Imaverol dips or both.

eek, ok thanks ladies! we have been talking all morning and are still not sure what road to go down. a piggy train maybe a good possibility as i know my mum will take us to inverness, so if we could get someone to pick up from Hutches Boarding in perth to go to Aberdeen, and then someone from Aderdeen to Inverness it may work.

I hope the piggy train works for you. It is tough when you are far from a rescue.

If I can help with any of the journey I will. However I don't think I am in an area that you would have to go through. ;(

Hope this works out for you.

@MissBubblegum You sound like you are both going to be amazing Piggy Slaves, very dedicated and thoughtful.

I am going to move this thread to Guinea Pig Chat now, so it can continue but free up space in Health & Illness

Lee :)

I am sorry to hijack this thread. I live in Aberdeenshire and I'm also looking to rehome a piggy as a companion for my girl. Is the piggy train on Facebook? I would be interested in this. As you said, not many rescues about!
I'm sure I could help with your journey if needed x

Yes it is, can't link as am at work and Facebook is blocked, but if you look up The Piggy Train you should find it.

Thanks for the nice comments. I really appriciate it, makes the blow less painful.

An update on the wee guy, he was not born that way, its just sort of happened which makes me really worried and feel very bad. On one hand i want to save the poor baby. I have suggested she take him to a vet so we will see.

That sounds very worrying. Maybe it's bad arthritis. I really hope she takes him to the vet.

Poor little soul. I hope she's caring enough to take him to a vet.

HELP!

She has another boy that the healthy baby could go with. But do I steer clear of her? We have so few options here its difficult decision :(

Hi bubblegum, ask if you can go see the babies at her place. If she says no I would steer well clear. If she agrees go and have a look at her setup. I would not take the babies sight unseen.
Has she said anything about taking the poorly baby to the vet? That would be another red flag for me if she hasn't.

I dont think so, 'he is fine', clearly he is not fine. sigh. ok, so she is now a no go. she either doesnt actuallyknow much about pigs or its a breeding mill :(

Sorry to hear that, but I think for your own sakes you should steer clear of her. I would hate for you to take the babies, become attached to them, for something bad to happen and you would end up heartbroken.
Unfortunately the SPCA doesn't have any piggies for rehoming in the highlands just now.
I don't advocate buying form pet shops but personally I would go to them rather than this person in the circumstances.

I wish there was a bit on the P@H website for there adoption section, if i were to get pigs from there i would rather get it from the adoption bit.

@MissBubblegum does the pets at home not have an adoption section in the store?
I know that the pigs are probably just babies that have become too big for them to sell and thats why they are in that section but some times in the store local to mine there are pigs that people have brought in. I know this because I have a friend that works there and they had a big guy who was left outside the store.

Worth a try x

there is an adoption section :) its just i dont go there much lol unlike the sspca site where i check a few times a week. I do need to take a trip that side of town for a new hoover (argos is beside p@h) so will have a looky and see. it would be good if the p@h site had a bit on their website where they 'advertise' the pets that are in their adoption centres, if that makes sense.

A few of my Pets at Home adoptions were left there too, Honey was 4 and Star was at least 18 months old, oh and Gertie too, she was 1.

Aww. We need to see pigtures. And hope they are healthy. Happy for you. :)

The lovley piggies above are up for rehoming in Tayside, unfortunately this is hundreds of miles from us in Caithness. I would have adopted them if they were local.

It is very annoying that that Branch is Highlands and Islands whe really its the Sutherland area, and we are Caithness and Sutherland branch when really it only covers Caithness lol I think whoevee named them must be a head office guy in London who thinks John o' Groats is just outside Inverness xD
