Hello, my guinea pig started making a crackle/croaky sound around 2 months ago. It would be on and off day to day. I took her straight to the vets to which he prescribed a metacam and baytril combo. Her symptom cleared and she was fine for a while after. However, the sound returned and therefore I returned to the vet. The vet prescribed baytril, metacam and a F10 solution that would be used within a nebuliser as a long term solution. Again, this worked initially and the sound returned. Another trip to the vets..this time they prescribed sulfatrim and metacam along with her F10 solution. Again, this worked amazing but 3 days after her treatment course finished the sound has returned. The vet said last time that the only thing possible would be to put my guinea pig under to take swabs to be tested but I understand this is very dangerous for a healthy guinea pig nevermind a guinea pig with a breathing issue. Any suggestions would be great as I don't know what to do and the only solution the vet has is too risky for my liking.
