I won't judge you. But you do know a rabbit could easily kill a guinea pig?

There was no need for this comment! If you ever met Ruby you'd have known she wouldn't have done anything to hurt him. I know some rabbits can hurt guinea pigs, but Ruby was different. She had alot of problems and the only thing keeping her going was the love Guinea showed to her. Because of her problems she was so gentle and easy going. These two were more than just cage mates, they were soul mates!

Love don't worry about this comment. You know they were meant for each other and this issue about keeping rabbits and guineas together have only been made public in the last couple of years. :) :-*

There are so many bunnies and piggies together in zoo pets corners etc and farms,as long as theyre gentle and get on ok thats fine, dont let it worry you hunni, you knew your own pets O0 ;)

Every animal has his/ her own personality - all kinds of friendships are possible. :)

Bless his little cotton socks. Hope you are feeling ok at the moment - it does knock you when you have a couple of deaths. Spring is a funny month it seems like winter knocks it out of them & then they relax & drift off.

So to ease his loss what are your plans do you think - obviously not neutering because the vet said no. Maybe get a second opinion from the vet who has done mine , Pumpkinpiggies & Shazs boars. We've all had excellent results with them.

My sister is thinking of rehoming her boars one is approx 2 1/2 & the other is about 6 months. I wonder if she would split them, the oldest is a nice abby mainly black with a bit of white & ginger here & there...if you're interested I could ask. The worst she could say is no. If it didn't work she'd take him back I'm sure... I'm just thinking out loud here!

Sorry I didn't get back to your PM last night the connection was bad.

Chin up Chick

this comment has been blown out of the water by those wonderful pictures of which made me cry :'( ,they are so natural and proof of their love for one another , when some ones lost an animal please dont feel the need to judge its not the right time and in this case obvioulsy never would have been ,
just a gentle reminder here to be nice please ;)

So sorry to hear about your loss, Ruby and Guinea looked a wonderful couple.

We all know what we should and shouldn't do as far as keeping buns and piggies together, but just occasionally it works and Ruby was obviously a very special girl. As michellemuffin has so rightly pointed out, now is not the time to criticise someone, leave this discussion for another time people.

Big hugs and I know you will find it in your heart to do what you feel is right for Guinea.

Ok sorry hun. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. All I was trying to say if she addidently jumped and her leg hit him, it could hurt him. I never said she would purposely hurt him. They looked like they cared for each other very much. And look very close.
And yes they did/do look very close which I think is sweet. And I understand about Ruby problems, which would of made her a soft touch. Sorry if the comment sounded mean, I didn't intend for it to be hun. :(

Very well put and i couldn't agree more! :)

I am so sorry for your loss :'(I send my condolences to you and Guinea.

Aw, so sorry to hear about poor Ruby, what a beautiful bunny :'( :'( :'( The photos are adorable. They clearly adored each other. Your pics made me cry :'( Don't worry, you're not doing anything wrong but you've been dealt a raw deal and it's not fair.

My rabbit and guinea lived just like yours, very close, been together since babies, and Mitzi (bunny) was so gentle, we had no probs at all. Poor Mitzi died of a tumour before Christmas and like your Guinea, our Molly just sat. I didn't know what to do but I couldn't bear seeing her like it, so within 2 days got a baby guinea for company. I didn't want another rabbit, I was gutted about losing Mitzi and it just felt so disloyal and disrespectful to her (some will say how ridiculous and I'm not having a go at anyone who does go out and get another straight away, it's just down to how each of us copes with it and how we feel). So a baby guinea seemed the answer. Good but different company. And they got on well.

We've since added to the collection, after a month got Bella & Truffle and last week got baby Rosie so Molly is now the oldest of a group and I'm pleased to say she's adapted brilliantly.

Sending a hug to you cos you probably need it. Dear little Ruby was very lucky to have spent her days with Guinea and you. x
