The hay is Oxbow Western Timothy - which they both love. I got it from the Hayexperts

The orange things are the price tags - they are new bottles that I got yesterday and I haven't gotten around to taking the labels off yet!

Ah, posh hay! No wonder it looks so good. Spoilt piggies! ;)

Lol I wasn't sure if the orange bits were on the bottles or in them....thanks for clarifying that! Thought it might be some new-fangled thing and I might be missing a trick but I should probably just get my eyes tested! :red

The first time they met (with Jenny), all they did was hump. After about 45 minutes of that, some teeth chattering started and we separated them.

The second time I put them together (on my own), serious teeth chattering and big show your teeth yawns started up within 2 minutes - my fault as it wasn't on neutral territory.

The third time is today (first with Jenny, but she has gone now), no aggression of any kind for the first 2 hours - Pig has been grooming Bobby's ear, they have had a nap together. However, as I am writing this, things are getting a little rowdy. Nothing serious yet, just a small amount of chasing and a very tiny bit of teeth chattering from Little Pig... Oh, they have both just stopped and are calm again!

Thanks for the info! I find piggy behaviour very interesting and it seems we're both going through the same thing so i will look out for your updates! I find it interesting that they are ok for quite some time and then the teeth chattering etc starts...i had the same thing. All pigs together for at least 3 hours, everything was calm, they had groomed each other and Mabel and Finley were cuddled up in a box of hay

Within minutes of this there was very loud teeth chattering and Mabel lunged at him, this ended up with Finley going back for her and him with a tuft of hair pulled out and her with another tuft of hair pulled out (a lot of it too!) and a cut on her chin and lip. I was like huh?! :{

Will let you know too how i get on! :))

The small squabble this afternoon was over both of them wanting the same strand of hay (in a cage full of hay)...

I'll be looking out for your updates too - particularly as it is Jenny who is helping both of us! Good luck.

I can't quite believe how well things are going with the boys. I have been putting them together as much as I can (but only when I am home to supervise) and there have been no real issues. Little Pig is definitely the boss and has got slightly grumpy on a few occasions, but Bobby has become mr submissive and so nothing has escalated. They both had a bath with the new gg shampoo I ordered for them this evening. Neither of them like me very much now because of it, but it seems to have helped their friendship. I don't know if it is because they both smell the same or if it is solidarity through adversity (!), but they have been fairly affectionate tonight.

Hmmm, also thinking about changing Bobby's name... is it wrong to change a pig's name?

Not at all. New home new name :). The only original name i ever kept was Terry cos it suits him!

they are a very cute couple!

Ooooh this is such good news! How will you decide when to keep them together?! I'm really pleased xx>>> i kept Finleys name but it really suited him and we had all been calling him that on the forum weeks before i got him so it felt right! I don't see any problem in changing it though!

I think it will be quite some time yet before I feel comfortable leaving the boys together unsupervised. It is still very early days – they only met for the first time a week and a half ago and were only put together successfully on Saturday – and I don’t want to rush things.

While they seem to be getting on well so far, this is with me supervising, on neutral territory, with no snuggles/tunnels etc for them to fight over. I will follow this same process at least until the end of the week and may try adding a few tunnels at the weekend (or move the shared run into their bedroom) to see how they are with each other then.

I’m going to wait for as long as I can before I put them together permanently. I work full time and live on my own, and would hate to come home from the office to find they have hurt each other (or worse). In the meantime, they are each in their own large c&c when I am not around and can see the other (and have sniffs and nibbles) through the bars.

Love the boys - they looks cute! Hopefully everything will continue perfectly, and Little Pig will have his besets pig-bud for life!

In terms of names... Basil (also a Crawley Piggy) came to me named Fred. I am generally inclined to keep piggy names as they come, but... Well, he was to be Rose's hus-pig, and Fred and Rose... Bad combination (Mum vetoed it before Basil had even arrived!) so, as I already had Rose and Bumble I continued the garden theme with Basil, but didn't want to lose Fred entirely, so his full name is Basil Frederick the Bronze! At the end of the day, he doesn't care what you call him, as long as you keep the veggies coming!

just catching up, I have high hopes for Bobby aka Womble possibly?! and Rachel knows I am at the end of the phone but she has done a good job of swopping them around and getting them use to each other.

Crossing fingers for Finlay and also nice to see another ex CGPR piggie Fred (now called Basil) lined up with his women!

My little family of guinea pigs were mum and dad Marigold and Basil, and son & daughter Parsley and Lavender.

Womble?! Love it! Let us know what new name you decide on, if any :)

Yup, I'm ashamed to admit it, but Bobby is now called Womble - poor little guy has gone from having a sensible, manly name to being named after a children's tv character. However, given that I am naming him, things could have been worse, Little Pig's brother was called White Pig and Little Pig isn't a great name either!
