The one thing that never ceases to surprise me about piggies is their resilience. She will be okay I am sure, just gotta take it one step at a time. Metacam will certainly help her out both for pain and inflammation. She is a little fighter.

Aww poor baby. Amelia Jane is on loxicom for her arthritis. She gets sore each time she eats a poop, poor sweetheart. I hope Havens pain relief helps.

Oh I am so sorry to find out she has arthritis. Its so sad that you were hoping for her cyst to be removed and now you have another problem to deal with :(

How old is Haven? I have never heard of arthritis in a guinea pig before :(

I do agree, Haven is a beautiful pig. My horse has arthritis and he is managed well on pain killers, I hope Haven can be as well

An update on Haven.
She is doing well on her meds. She is an odd guinea pig and refuses to eat the oxbow joint support hay tablets..apparnetly most piggies Love them. So now had them crushed up in a spoonful of critical care with her vit c tablet each night... (Good thing she needs bulking up). She is still a madam getting her thyroid meds taken....she hates being syringed meds!..but at least that is only 0.3ml daily. :P

Her appetite has increased...she is now eating plenty of hay, veg and pellets (before she went off Hay and only ate veg and pellets- that's when i worried)

Vet phoned today as i called to update on Haven- he is pleased she is eating more and has more energy. Its great, her coat looks better and everything- she also looks less "frail", although she is still tiny. She is slowly gaining a little weight.

All being well, she is booked into see Vet Monday morning, if he is happy then she will stay the vets to be operated on Tuesday (to have her Cyst removed).

So all in all i am pleased...although i will be working when she is operated on (but i will ahve my mobile with me) and also probs when she is collected....so my mum and sister are making the trip for me :)

Just dropped Haven off at the vets for her op tommorow (round two lol). Its going to be so strange not having her with me...never had a night away from her since i adopted her.... I left her with a huge bag of hay ..pellets and veg :-P anyone woulf thibk shea going to be gone for weeks not a couple of days :-P

Good Luck Haven. Mummy loves you x

Fingers and paws crossed for one of the forum's prettiest little ones. Big hugs to you too x

Thanks Everyone. I cant believe how much i miss her already! She's such a character! I already miss not wrestling with her - trying to get her meds in her- who would have thought! lol.
Vet said i will probs collect her Wednesday sometime all being well, so that will be my mum and sister collecting her as i will be at work :(. But i will be home for a couple of hours at lunch so if she is home by then i will be so happy to see her!

I think her op is booked for 9.20ish, so hopefully by lunch time i will have a phone call and can fill you all in with how she is. I will probs also call the vets in the evening while i am at work for an update (before the emergency vet staff arive for the night shift).

Thanks again anyway, i am a bag of nerves!

Just had a phone call. Lump has been removed and she is coming round from aesthetic. Going to call back again about 3-4ish (before 5 he said) to see how she is getting on etc. :D So "phew". A huge sigh of relief on my part.

Great news, lots of recovery vibes on the way. Don't forget to ask for some metacam for pain relief for post op recovery over the next few days, they'll probably give her an injection that lasts 24 hours but you may need some for the forthcoming days

Love to little Haven x

Yeh will do. She's not home till tomorrow (all being well he said Wednesday)), but yes she is on Metacam anyway twice a day for her arthritis, but will ask what dosage she will be on now. :)

Update on Haven.... She is doing okay and stable and comfortable. I have arranged to call back in the morning and if she is doing okay and was stable over night etc, then we can collect her. But they may hold onto her if she is less stable over night or they feel she needs to stay longer etc.

I warned the vets I cant collect her Thur or probs Fri due to work for myself (and my mum) and no transport myself so- if she's not stable enough to come home tomorrow morning, she would be collected either Sat morning or if not Monday lol. The receptionist was so sweet and she said they are totally find holding on to her until i can collect her. so thats a relief, at least she gets round the clock care there.

Will update you all in the morning once i have called the vets. Probs will call between 8.30 and 9.30is, depending on when i can escape work to call :P.

But wanted to let everyone know she is okay.

Haven is fine and has been aloud to come Home.
My mum called she has Haven and they are on their way home. Will update again when i see her but yay my baby should be home in an hour and a half :-) Apparently she is tucking i to some cucumber hehe x
