I'm hoping mine will arrive today.I've ordered the same thing to give it a try. I've tried the excel with dandelion and marigold. My group of 4 girls won't touch it but my 2 boys and pair of girls will. I've also got the PurePastures hay from the Range at £3.49 for a 3.7kg bag and that's always a hit with all of mine.
I ordered mine on Sunday evening piggysmitten and it arrive on Wednesday (so 3 days not bad) you won't be disappointed, I'm really pleased with it, because the strands are so long I'm not need ending to feed them as much, I pulled a good sized handful of hay out for them at 9 this morning and they still gave some left and they love their hay. :) you will noticed a huge difference between the hay you buy in the shops and this it smells lovely and fresh. I'm not buying any other hay now

@My3cuteBoys

I had the hay for pets bag for around 3 months! It just didn't seem to go down. If you are looking for a different hay at any time www.timothyhay.co.uk is a hit with my boys too! I am going to mix it around every few weeks.
Wow great value for money :) I will Timothy too to give them a change every so often thanks theoretikos

This one says its organic no sprays used just left to grow then harvested. I'm a fuss pot and I'm really pleased with this hay. The strands are very long about 4-5 the length of my guinea pigs lol which is much better then the dusty bitty stuff I brought from the pet shop. I like the sound of the burgess hay you can buy in pet shoos but it's between £5-6 for a small bag. This hay I've just brought Is lovely no dust it smells really fresh and sweet it's not brown at all I'm very pleased with it and I would happily recommend it :)
This is an all round kind of hay I think, I'm sure Timothy and meadow are the other two hays apart from this one, they are the same kind of price...the £16 bag is the most expensive but it's going to last me a long time a month plus the bag it comes in is good strong thick plastic so it should keep well..I brought thus hay for feeding not bedding)

I think all 3 types they sell are the same price for the 9.5kg bag. Meadow hay seems to be less coarse than Timothy hay and have less "flowers" (not sure if that's what you call the bits at the tops of the stalks) based on my comparison of the Timothy hay in the burgess bag and the meadow hay in the pure pastures bag I have.
You can get a trial pack of all 3 types they sell for £4.50 but I've seen others on here say that the amount you get of each is quite small and the actual postage cost less than £4.50 (they advertise it as trial pack for just the price of postage). I decided just to go for the large bag as so many have recommended it on this forum.

I've only tried the Timothy and Rye from hayforpets thus far but my boys love it, they used to refuse all timothy hay other then the Alfalfa King brand which was pricey for a small bag, I'm excited to try the Ings and Meadow hays next!

how would you recommend storing such a large bag of hay? i cant believe how fast you guys are getting it delievered! its awesome!

I think I'm going to buy a plastic swing bin (large kitchen bin size) or plastic dustbin to keep it in. At the moment it's just in the house next to the cages.

The ideal solution probably involves decanting about a weeks worth into some smaller container that I can keep by the cages and keeping the rest in the plastic bin or just in the bag (it's very good strong plastic) in the garage or somewhere else for storing things.

Trouble is that for us at the moment that would mean having to sort the garage out so we could fit the hay in!

It'll be interesting to see how long the bag lasts . We've got 8 piggies but I'm hopeful it will last a good long time still.

The 16.5 kg bag lasts my 2 skinny pigs 2.5 months. But I do use it for litter trays as well. If I just gave it to eat would def last longer

Hi @PiggySmitten, just read all your messages and I think decanting it is a great idea, and the bin storage too. I love the bit about the garage....I plonked my bag just inside the garage to be sorted out later, were all climbing over it and hubby is not a happy chappy as he sorted out the garage last month...:oops:
This nicer hay works out cheaper because the £5 bags of hay that I can buy locally only last 2-3 weeks max, I'm guessing from what gloriousGuineagirl said...my bag should last me appox 3 months that's just over £5 a month for hay and I don't need to fetch it :)

Oh and sorry for the messed up message I sent at 1.10 I was rushing to finish the message because I had lost track of time and needed to get out the door :(

Ha ha! Your house sounds like ours! :D To do one job always involves sorting about 2 other things out first here!
