Healing Vibes for Poorly Hazel and a Request for Advice

I am sorry to hear Hazel is not doing so good this morning. I hope she picks up very soon. The waiting is so worrying for you. When Rusty had his op he had to stay in 2 night's as he wasn't eating and his temperature was low. He picked up much better once we got him home.

I do sometimes find that they are less well the day after their op, as they are immediately after it. I do think they benefit from being back at home though, so hope you can take her home soon xx
I would rather she was at home but I felt I should take their advice. I'm happy to syringe feed her and give meds. If they want to keep her any longer I will ask to speak to the vet tomorrow rather than the nurse.

Yes, I think if you explain that you are experienced at syringe feeding and medicating they should be happy to let her come home. I guess some owners would struggle and for them, it is better that the guinea pig stays in veterinary hospital a tad longer. xx

Update - Just had a call from the vets. Hazel is a little better but still not eating well. She ate last night but not this morning. The good news is that the diarrhea has stopped and she is passing urine ok. Their advice was for her to stay another day. The vet who did the surgery is back in tomorrow morning so I have asked that they call me.

I just think that part of the problem may be her not being in her usual surroundings and strange people handling her. I am also concerned of the effect that this is having on Milo.

So glad that Hazel’s diarrhoea has stopped and that she ate a bit last night. Really hope you can get her and Milo home with you soon :hug:Hope she starts eating a bit today 🤞And hope you’re ok xx

Oh lots going on with the little love.
Mixed news but good tho . . She be home soon hopefully . .
Come on Hazel . . Mummy worried and wants you home. Xx

Aw mixed news, hope Hazel gets eating soon x
I know it’s a long shot but is there any chance that you could go up to the vets and syringe feed her in your car? Know it’s a bit random but perhaps like you say she would be better with people she knows

All the best and fingers firmly crossed!
I hope that your vets can get her through this.

Had a call from the veterinary nurse this morning to say that Hazel is much brighter and has eaten ok overnight. The vet who did the surgery will review her later and decide if she can be discharged. So fingers crossed we may have Hazel home today. xx

Oh brilliant news. I hope Hazel can come home where I’m sure she will benefit from her own surroundings x
