lots and lots of healing vibes for jasper xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

huge hugs for you too love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Awwww thanks so much everyone. The vet says he has spurs on his back teeth from poor jaw alignment. He is very dehydrated and lethargic from lack of food and water. He has some food to syringe feed, anti inflamms, bioflex to help his poop and antibiotics. The plan is to build him up for surgery on Monday. He will have to have it sooner if he doesnt improve, risky as he is so weak. I am so worried :... I swaddled and gave him a nice warm syringe feed, it took a while to get going but he was making content little noises after a while. It was very sweet, thats a positive thing eh? His pal Dexter is being a star, not fussing him but staying close. Last nite he was licking Jasper's ears xoxo

I've been absent for a while on here, life got in the way and I lost track of everyone. My goodness you have some bootiful himis! :a19: Whats the story?

Aw, poor boy :( Hate it when they're poorly 8...
I remember last summer when Harley had a bladder stone and we had to syringe feed him CC over 48 hours before he could have surgery, worrying time but he made it and is now a happy and healthy chubster x)
Always a catch 22 with ab's as it can knock their appetite about, keeping an eye on his weight is always good and syringe food into him in small, regular amounts.
Lots of healing vibes for Jasper, get well soon lovely boy :laluot_29:

These diva's were rescued from an ex breeder, their mother had died from back to back pregnancies, these sisters were her last litter so I begged her to let me have them xoxo The lady who owned them hadn't time anymore to care for her piggies, so wanted them gone asap and agreed I could have them for nothing as we were happy to travel a fair old whack to get them.
Poor little devils didn't know what to do with veggies/hay etc. now they are some of the daftest and funniest piggies we have :x
Always had a soft spot for Himi's so to find three altogether was a dream for us :(|)

Thats good to hear, thanks.
How often did you syringe feed? i thought i had taken in everything the vet said but i forgot! I think she said 3-4 small feeds a day. The amount i made up according to the pack seemed MASSIVE and he didnt manage it all.

Oh no, poor jasper, lots of healing vibes to him.

Is it Critical care food you have? Aim for around 120ml a day if he is not eating. Weigh regulary to make sure he isn't losing weight and is stable. We used to feed between 10ml-20ml per feed

Oh poor boy, hope it all goes okay on Monday. x

He needs feeding every 2hours or as often as you can if he's not eating anything for himself, he will be OK over night if he has had enough (120mls) during the day. Difficult to manage every 2hours I know; I used to fit 5 good feeds in a day; don't forget to give some water too.

Yes its CC. Thanks, my common sense seems to go out the window when its my own boys!

No, I totally understand. It is very daunting and when your own piggies are ill, total panic sets in. Have pm'd you x

Lots of support on here for you Sandra - it all sounds quite complex when reading stuff but you will find a way of doing things that suit you and Jasper. Sometimes I panicked and thought, that hasn't happened etc. and compare other peoples experiences to my own rolleyes All of our piggies are different and things are used as a guideline.
As sport billy says, weigh Jasper and make up his feed, if he doesn't like the CC (it's quite aniseedy) mash his everyday pellets with warm water to a mushy consistency. Harley would only take small amounts via the syringe so I would mash it a little thicker and he'd take it from my finger. I offered him all the wrong foods tbh when he was at his worst, cucumber and melon were the only things he nibbled at but anything is better than nothing.
Fresh grass and dandelion leaves were also a hit, wash well before and any residual water will assist hydration.

He seems to like it, the vet told me to add effervescent vit c tablet to the water first. I asked if the flavoured ones were ok cos we have orange ones, she said this was fine. So its tastes quite sweet (i had a lick and it's not half bad :(|) He seems keen to have a little lick from his water bottle after, he enjoyed getting his chin washed and lips dampened which was encouraging.
Thanks for your encouraging comments Xx
