Hi, I am new to this forum and am in desperate need for advice. I had 2 sister guinea pigs, Suga and Huni aged 3 years 8 months. I have had them since they were 6 weeks old. Unfortunately Suga passed away on 5 March from fluid on her lungs, since then Huni has had a UTI and she needed dental surgery as her teeth were overgrown and had rotated due to an abnormality on her right side. Huni had the dental surgery on 21 march by an exotic vet, she has finished the antibiotics however she is still struggling to eat. She is able to eat mashed up pellets with critical care mixed in and she eats the hay bale and hay mix but really struggles with veg. I chop the veg up really small but she continues to struggle. She is on metacam and will be on it for the rest of her life. My vet is talking about considering putting Huni to sleep as she has to consider her welfare etc. Huni is still playing with her toys, maintaining weight, going to the loo with no squeaking however she does spend a lot of time sat in her hidey hole. My questions are, is there anything else I can do for her in terms of food etc? Should I consider having her put to sleep? Any advice greatly welcomed, thank you in advance x
