help! piggie slowly dying after malocclusion surgery

Are you saying she's done nothing about the tooth? Why is she keeping him there? The tooth needs to be dealt with and then he should start to make progress. I so wish you were in the UK and could get Simon to see him. He isn't going to make any progress or be able to take syringe food well, whilst he's got a wobbly and painful tooth. I really hope that something can be done soon to help the little guy x

I agree 100% and I don’t get it either. I’m really scared they’ll let him slip away. she seemed to be saying when i was there that she planned to give him anti-inflammatoires to see if he would try to eat. she said on message he tried daytime yesterday and ate some pellets too but that today he’s “much less well” and she’s not “optimistic”. but insanely it seems she’s doing no more to actually help him. she did say it was a complicated job to remove tooth and that she needed to think about it. but I just never imagined she’d just allow Buddy to stay in this state, especially knowing what’s up.
makes me want to scream. kids are very sad too. too much.

If the tooth is wobbly it isn’t going to firm back up. It needs removing or it’ll continue to cause a problem. How much syringe food is she getting in? xx
 
that’s what’s worrying me. i don’t know. i was feeding him plenty every hour, he was up to 680g. and yes you’re right he can’t take pain on his tooth, I’d been putting the syringe behind his teeth, he practically showed me. I need to get him back if he survives and go to that other one i heard about

you’re right, I’ll just go in there. trouble is i’m stuck working tomorrow and it’s bl••dy miles from where I live, not sure I can go tomorrow.

thank you so much. I feel the human and piggy love coming from this lovely forum, amd you’re totally right to remind me to be strong, it really helps.
Ironically I’m coming to UK but I can’t get Buddy there in easyjet and anyway I’m miles from the clinic there too. (s i g h)
 
woke at 5am with among Tiamolly123’s comment going around my head..
and organized myself the afternoon off!
one last ditch effort if he made it though the night. the other vet that’s apparently a specialist is actually just near the one where he is. my crazy plan is to get Buddy and take him to the other without an appointment and just hope they’ll help. hopefully they’ll take one look at the state of Buddy ( and me..) and do the right thing.
like we expect of vets....
I’ll keep you informed. just hope he’s still here...
 
Fingers crossed for you. You could always just ask his current vet to remove the bad tooth straight away if she is willing

yes, absolutely. I’ll talk with her first but I guess she has her reasons for holding on and I suspect she’ll tell me he’s too ill/showing no interest in food to make the op worthwhile. it’s driving me nuts though as like we’re saying he’s obviously not going to be ok like this.

Well I really hope if she doesn't do it that the other vets see you quickly. This is clearly very stressful for you and Buddy

Oh gosh I am so sorry for your loss. You really went above and beyond to give him the best possible chance. Guilt is a normal part of the grieving process but please don't be hard on yourself as you really did do everything possible for Buddy and he wouldn't have made it this far without you
