HELP PLEASE! non stop mounting all day!

this is just a nightmare. a hard no from smokey to the new boar, they seemed ok in the divided pen so i put them in the bonding pen and smokey joe completely ignored the new pig as if he was not there, nothing from him at all. no acknowlwdgement of him being there at all. new pig mounted a lot but smokey totally ignored him, then they just stared circling and chattering so i separated. off back to the rescue. at my wits end.
 
I’m so sorry that things didn’t go well with the second boar :( Take heart. My Elizabeth refused to bond with a sow pair back in October 2020 and turned on her husboar, Edward. I thought that was it but I tried them again with another sow pair, Ella and Esme last March and although a little rocky to begin with, they all bonded and I now have a happy herd of 4. I’m sure the right boar will come along soon x

You could try a baby boar or consider neutering.

However, I would give Smokey Joe a little time out before trying anything again. He is obviously a bit traumatised right now; hence is non-engagement.

Thanks, I have to give smokey a rest now though, for a good while I think, he has had enough. I've just noticed his poos are a bit smaller than normal and it has to be all the stress. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and take it from there I think x

I am not going to get a baby boar as then i will have the testoserone phase all over again when Smokey Joe is older and even less able to cope with it. Plus i dont want any more after Smokey. I think he just wants to be left alone for now at least, and i have had as much as i can take xx
