please can some1 help me urgently
i just bought two guinea pigs and they are both meant to be males but one has a lot larger face than the other one but they are both the same age?
we have looked at there bits and they are both totally different please can some1 help and tell me as the larger one keeps mounting the other one how do i confirm if its a boy or a girl?
I'm also concerned as the small one is very agitated by the larger ones behaviour.
NOT ready for babies yet.

you cannot tell a guinea pigs gender by the head size, if you have a female guinea pig her genitals will look like a Y shape and nothing else, if its a male it will have a small spot like look with no Y shape.. if you have a camera then you can take pics and we can help you sex them

arent you giving two of yours up for adoption, or am i getting you confused with someone else.. because if that is you why are you buying 2 more?

I agree if you take some pics of their bits we can help you! Hopefully she won't be preggies yet :o

sometimes the males mount each other to see whos going to be the boss i would seperate them till your sure though maybe you could take some pics of their bits people are very good at sexing on here! O0

Like the others have already said part them even if it means putting one into a cardboard box over night :)

advice appreciated.

They look like boys to me but its hard to tell from pics. :-\

The first piccy looks like a boy, i can't tell with the second pic but i think it may be a boy, do you have a better one of the second pig?

first definatly male the second I still cant tell from those pics

Gently push on the area just above the genitals and a little willy should pop out ::)

I''m hopeless with things like this, just asked Peter (hubby) and he seems to think your white pig could be female. He said put a small amount of pressure either side and his widget should pop out...lol

I can't tell from the second pic, I find it harder on white pigs. :)

thats why i said i couldnt tell Louise as i was leaning towards female for the white one

I agree first is a male...second looks more like a female but hard to tell..where are you? Maybe someone can come round and check for you? :)

The white one looks slightly female, but could just be because its light skin. It seems to be a little more Y shaped.

thanx SunshineAndTwinkle,

piggy one is deffo a boy!

piggy two, just squeezed above the dubrey ferkin and nothing showed...

is that conclusive?

i agree that the first is deffo a boy.

i also suspect the white piggy is a girl, but it isnt completely clear from the pics

hmm on the first pic the white one looks like a boy, but on the second more like a girl.. if you feel just above the genitals under the skin you will be able to actually feel the dinkle inside, if you cant feel anything then its most likely a girl.

Graham, the first pic looked like a boy and the second a girl, it totally threw me! :D

Sqeeker, if there is nobody in your area who can check for you then I would take them to the vets to be sexed, I done this with my boys as they were pet shop pigs and I wanted to be sure as I was new to pigs! You'll get charged a consultation fee which is no more than £8.00 I would imagine, Mine was only £5.60.

I would seperate, how old are the pigs now?

Hmm I'm not sure, Ive only got one boy and there's no mistaking his because he's 2 lol! Erm.. I'd say 1st boy and second girl. one of my girls looks like a boy sometimes, it takes a close look to see she's a girl so maybe your second piggy is a girl. But then i've heard of males who look very female! hhmm.. Keep them separate until you know for sure. x

was told by pet store that the piggies are about 8-9 weeks old.

the non funny thing is my partner named piggy one (boy) banger! :)

...did feel above the genitals and the piggy one felt different to piggy 2

if you can feel a slight raise under the skin in piggy one but not in two then you have got male and female, as the female will be completely smooth as obv she has no dinkle lol

cheers spudnik,

thinking piggy 2 is girl, nothing to be felt under skin, seems pointless separating them now, as they probably been at it hours before we even noticed tonight.
Plus we have no way of giving her water only one water bottle.

They seem fine together at the moment, Boy piggy keeps swaying and stomping back feet, is this a mating dance or is it purely down to working out who's the dominate one? or both?
