During the bonding session, my two boars were working perfectly. teeth chattering, butt sniffing, and other normal behaviors. However I did notice whenever I have two water bottles and cookie was drinking out of one, walnut would take the bottle from cookie. If cookie was eating hay, walnut would come and cookie would get scared and ran away. And I just saw walnut lunge at cookie but no blood was drawn. Will this calm down? I don’t want to stress out any of them. They currently have a 3x5 c and c right now with no hideouts just tunnels and 2 water bottles on each side (total 5). Thank you!

It is normal for the piggy who is going for being the dominant to have his pick of things and this is why it is important to have two of everything including two hay piles . So yes it can be normal but it is something to keep an eye on. If the dominant piggy consistently and constantly stops the other piggy from being able to eat, drink or is always chasing him out of hides, constant humping Etc then that can mean it has tipped over into bullying and a dysfunctional bond

Thank you! I will keep an eye on them and let you know if anything happens.

I just noticed that walnut is the one who chases cookie from the hay, but cookie is the one who chases walnut from hides. It doesn’t happen constantly for both of them now. They have calmed down more :)

Have you put hides in? Best to not have hides in the bonding pen
How long have they been in the bonding pen?
They’ve been moved from the bonding pen a few hours ago :) They were in the bonding pen for 3 hours under supervision! Then moved into a neutral cage. There weren’t any hides in the bonding pen but I do have 4-5 tunnels in the cage. I have also noticed they’re settling in pretty nicely. Cookie allows walnut to hump him. However every once in a while walnut goes to “check” on cookie and cookie starts off by squeaking at a distance then rumbling when he gets closer, eventually running away. Is this normal?

That’s good.
They will be in a period of establishing a hierarchy and relationship for the next two weeks and during this time you are going to see a lot of dominance and hopefully submission! Provided there is no full on fighting or bullying (not give confused with normal dominance) then leave them to settle together. Only intervene is there is a full on fight
