I'm embarrassed to be asking this question a month into having guinea pigs but I really do need help.
I have been searching into behaviour of guinea pigs and skittish behaviour as I feel I am doing everything I can to help my new piggy get used to me but he is still so fearful and tries to run for dear life whenever I hold him.
It appears that he's not gaining confidance in me because of the way I pick up my piggies. I put my hands either side of their bodies and sort of scoop them up. I have read this is wrong but I've also read conflicting right ways to do it.
I have read that you pick them up at the top of their necks then support their bottoms with the other hand or to slide your hand gently underneath then cup it's back and sides with the others.
How do you pick up your piggies? Please don't assume thar I am not caring for my piggies as I have not learnt this very basic skill. I am forever reading and researching about piggy care. I'm always posting for help an just want to learn.. I just havn't read about handling till now :embarassed:
