So Iggy has been at the vets as he's got another bout of cystisis, my vets have also given me another bottle of sulfatrim for any future problems. Good job I keep metacam on hand now!

Tonks has got another growth so she's now booked in for Tuesday for a mastectomy. 8:30 to get there and get her settled and we go through all the worry and trauma again! Not just for the operation but also the ol' bank account... Roll on payday :mal:

OUCH! I know the feeling... :(

Fingers very firmly crossed for you two patients!

Thanks Wiebke, I'm sure you do!

I'm not looking forward to Tonks' aftercare as she's the most skittish pig I've ever met due to her one eye situation.

I feel it may be more bad luck than anything but to have 2 of my 4 girlies need a mastectomy this close together feels like I'm doing something wrong for this to happen, especially as they're so young :(

Oh bless you. You must know deep down it’s nothing you’ve done or are doing. Huge hugs. This is not your fault. You are a fabulous piggy slave. Xx

Thank you, it's good to hear that. It's just too easy to worry about what's causing it all. I guess it's just rotten luck more than anything else. They're not related but each have sisters so I'm going to be paranoid in case it's genes related. They do worry us don't they? Xx

Yup. After years of keeping piggies I now have 2 with bladder issues. It made me question my husbandry for a while. But I’m now at peace again with myself that it’s nothing I am doing or not doing. It’s just bad luck at times. And for you it’s just the worst timing and with your most tricky piggy. I feel for you xx

I'm so sorry. You really have had it all lately. :(
Sending you, Iggy, and Tonks the biggest hugs! :hug:Hope things turn up for you soon! :luv:xx

Thanks everyone, as others have said before it's wonderful having all you guys here who understand :) There are few who do!

Cissy sailed through it well so I'm hoping Tonks will take it in her stride too. Fingers crossed! Thanks again guys, it means a great deal that you're all so supportive and helpful :) xx

Sending you hugs it's really nothing you've done wrong. The way you look after your fur babies is amazing. Hope all goes well for you and your piggys. X

I too have questioned my husbandry when I lost a piggy to stones and within 10 days had one with squeaky wees. I was so convinced it was my fault I wanted to rehome them. It took the vet to convince me I had done nothing wrong it was just coincidence.

Thank you :) I guess it's just really easy to blame ourselves isn't it? It just seems that they become ill so easily, they're more fragile little creatures than I ever thought to be honest. They certainly don't look or act like it though!

Just caught up with this thread. I hadn't forgotten Tonks was going in too. Hope all goes well.
Thanks Betsy :) Yes it's her turn now. Unfortunately it won't be as easy as previously thought but we'll see her through.

I wanted to wait til I could get a week of work for it as she's a little devil to handle!

I find even skittish pig's give in to syringe feeding especially when they aren't 100% so hopefully she will to.

I hope everything goes well and she sails through the operation.

Good Luck!

I think it is probably a combination of bad luck and excellent ownership to be honest.
You are clearly a dedicated and caring owner who keeps a close enough eye on her piggies to notice these things and then deal with them straight away.
I think this sort of thing is probably more common than most of us realise, but many owners simply don't notice until it is too late.
You are doing an amazing job for your girls, fingers crossed for a smooth recovery Tonks.

Thanks so much for all your support and kind words :hug:They have had a bad run @Reenie and I'm just hoping this is the end of it for a while! Get everyone healthy again and try and enjoy the summer!

Yes @flintstones I'm hoping she'll take to it well. I'm just worried about catching her for it all as she just won't go in a box and I don't wanna grab her sore spot where the op site is.

@Swissgreys I think you're right, as they're in my living room I notice things quicker. I'm glad I didn't go down the shed route like originally planned as I don't know if I'd notice all these problems in time. It breaks my heart to see them poorly and I find myself worrying about future illnesses too. I suppose it doesn't hurt to be prepared!

We were also set to go down the 'hutch in the garden' route with ours, but they never quite made it outside.
Having seen how quickly (and subtly) Ruby deteriorated, I will be eternally thankful that they were inside so I was able to immediately pick up on a very subtle change in her behavior.
In all honesty I am convinced she simply wouldn't be here now if she didin't live inside and receive constant attention and multiple daily checks.
Your girls are very lucky to have you.

You're so right, my babies will never go outside now and I'll never regret it!

Oh little Ruby, how is she? She's my spirit pig that girl! Hope she's fighting fit again :)

Thank you, I hope so! As are your babies :)

Tonks is going in about 8:30am for her surgery, keeping everything crossed for my baby. She's such a delicate little flower.

All being well I'm hoping to make a new cage for them at the end of the week, as long as she's well enough. It's far too dramatic in the cage they're in currently and as it was a temporary cage it's about time they got a new snazzy house! I've needed the planning to take my mind off it all.

Thanks guys, I know she's in good hands but it's so worrying. She's such a delicate little flower. She was so scared when we got to the vets.

Please wish her luck!

Thanks guys! Can't wait for midday 'cause I should be getting the call to say she's out okay... Just clock watching now!
