Here We Go Again, Mastectomy.

Thanks guys, the wait is over! She's been coming to the last half hour and is doing well :) They want to keep her til about 5:30.

Apparently one of the lumps looked mostly fatty but had a strange grey centre so they're sending it all off for analysis. Hope it's not something bad!

Can't wait to pick her up, she's having cuddles and being well looked after but I wanna get my hands on her!

I'm sure you do! Then you'll really know that she's OK.

Thanks :) The little lady is now home, she's had critical care with the vets and the girls there were smitten with her!

She's home and very dozy, she won't eat any lettuce (which is blasphemy in this house!) and she's angrily gnashing her teeth at me! As I write this she's just started to munch on the lettuce so she's feeling better already :))

But she's still cross at me, bad mummy!

I can't help but wonder if she'll be happier going back in with her family but I worry she's too dozy. They're a rambunctious lot so I don't know if they'll be too much for her?

Do you have a ‘hospital cage’ she can have for a while until she gets going again?
I do but it wouldn't be next to the others sadly. If possible I would like to pop her in and see how it goes with the others as I don't want to disrupt any bonds between her and the other 4, and she is happier in her cage with her friends. I'll wait for her to pick up a little I think, it's just that Cissy started to improve quicker when she returned to her cage.

I've taken the brute out for a while (Iggy) and popped Tonks back. She's so happy and the girls gave her some kisses. She's now having a nap in one of the hay trays so I'll leave her in peace for a bit before reintroducing brutus :))

Tonks isn't eating at all or really moving. I'm syringe feeding her but she doesn't really want it. I'm syringing her water too as she normally drinks a lot but she's not interested in much. Apart from a few seed heads hand fed she's not showing interest in food, the odd nibble when encouraged but that's it.

I'm worried that she's in pain but she's had an injection so she's not due painkillers til tomorrow and it seems like a low dose.

What dose is it and is it Metacam?
Yes she'll be on metacam but not til the morning. She's been prescribed 0.15mls per day and she weighs around 1.1 kilos. She's also on ranitidine and sulfatrim which she's had tonight.

We finally got her to take some grass and dandelion leaves and a handful of seed heads but I don't know how much she'll eat over night on her own. I hope her friends encourage her. She's been groomed by some of them as she's not really grooming herself which is nice.

She's moving around a bit more and acting "normal", or as normal as she can anyway :))

She did a big leap into the biggest hay tray just now so I'm hoping she feels better.

Post op for her has been worrying, Cissy was a star and it makes me appreciate her "what I had an operation?" attitude when she had hers :))
