Edam
Junior Guinea Pig
Hello!
Some of you may have seen I have been gifted an easter surprise baby guinea pig:
https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/help-surprise-baby.215636/
And Wiebke suggested I start a little family blog post!
So I have Freddie (Step-Dad) and Hexie (Mama). Freddie we have had for 2 years after adopting from a rescue, he is the cuddliest most tame little man and he will sleep on me for ages, he likes to pretend he is in charge, but he is always being bossed about (by his late wife Flora) and now Hexie!
Hexie we have had for a month, she is very very shy and timid and scared of everything, but she really looks up to Freddie, she follows him everywhere and seems to trust him. She is sooo vocal! She talks everytime she walks, constant chatting, we know instantly when shes awake as she likes to make herself known! We wanted to call her Hettie, but it didn't suit her, she is more ‘sharp’, she looks a bit like a dinosaur and her chatting sounds like shes putting spells on us… so Hexie she became! Or Hexasaurus rex I like to call her!
We didn’t know she was pregnant, it was a bit traumatic but here we are with a baby! A Little brown cutie. My 2 year old nephew has decided to call the baby ‘babychino’ in honour of his favourite coffee shop drink, so that will be the name for the time being until we know whether they are staying!
If a girl it will be likely babychino can stay with us forever, as we do have the space in their cage and in our hearts! It is looking promising to be a girlie but early days yet.
Freddie seems to have stepped into step-dad life quite well, he’s been sitting with babychino and babychino has been following him around as well as Mama Hexie!
Hexie seems to be doing a wonderful job, she is never far away and she always comes back and checks on babychino. Earlier Freddie had been babysitting and then Hexie decided it was time up and kicked him out - it was very cute to see.
Babychino is very confident running around mini popcorns, follows both mama and papa around, nibbling hay. I even saw them attempt to eat a pellet! But I think that was a little too big for babychino!
In terms of Humans it is me and my boyfriend who live with the GP family, they are in our living room with us so are very much at the centre of our lives. We love them to pieces x

If a boy, I unfortunately don't think we will have space for another cage and a fourth GP, but I am holding out hope we are correct and she's a girlie!
