Mrs Tiggy Winkle
Senior Guinea Pig
I'd keep Babycino too! Who cares what the vet thinks? Plus they've probably heard even wonkier names before.
My former coworker named her hamster that but called him speedy for shortI did restrain myself from using one name for a piggy out of sympathy for any vet.
My name theme is Biblical names and I felt that Mahershalalhashbaz was aa little unkind if we ever needed to see a vet![]()
Sorry, was that inappropriate? I didn't mean to be that way or to cause stress. My apologies!Have you decided on a name?
No no not inappropriate at all! I cry reacted as more of a ‘cry I am so indecisive and can’t find a name ahhh!’ not at your comment, it was sweet that you checked up!Sorry, was that inappropriate? I didn't mean to be that way or to cause stress. My apologies!

ok it’s official, I’ve taken the cutest photos ever!
Baby is so confident now I am so pleased - she is even more confident than her mama! She gets the zoomies and popcorns like crazy too. Yesterday made me giggle, freddie and hexie were sat eating some pellets from the bowl (like a civilised couple) and baby was just running around popcorning zooming everywhere - really reminded me of a toddler running around madly whilst the parents try to eat their dinner and have 5 mins peace
She is learning her confidence from the best though - Freddie is sooo tame he is literally the most ‘puppy’ pig, he is so curious with humans, he loves coming up and seeing everyone, he also always goes nose to nose and chats to my mums dog when we look after him haha, he will snuggle into me and sleep on me for well over an hour lol, he loves watching films with me! He is a very special piggie.
Hexie is still so nervy of us bless her, am trying to tame her but it is difficult- I think Freddie is really helping her see that I am not going to hurt her! She was left dumped in someone’s garden (the owners had moved out and left 18 pigs in a cardboard box in the garden! Most pregnant by the looks of it). I can’t imagine what she went through to make her this distrusting of humans - poor girlie
Anyway, I am glad she is with us now, and I am glad Baby was born into a loving home![]()
We still haven’t decided on a name…![]()
First time I’ve seen her relaxed out in the open! Next to her fave Freddie of course! She is getting very bossy… she is wheeking at me for veggies all the time and stealing veggies from Freddie’s mouth! Still haven’t got a name!
Effie!?! Good job you changed that!Saxon answered to his name not long after I renamed him (from Effie!)
That's what I thought! Who in there right minds calls a guinea pig Effie?!?!? I certainly didn't suit him.Effie!?! Good job you changed that!
Hehe thanks so much, I actually have it printed and put on the wall of their cage as a little family portrait! I'm not sure of my thoughts on AI, but chatgpt sure does make a good little portrait!
I know! I actually can't believe how big she has gotten! But she will always be baby to meShe’s looking so grown-up already! But she’ll always be the baby one.

No she doesn't really answer to anything, she's deffo in her own world haha! (However I did call out 'Baby' to talk to her the other day and my boyfriend replied from upstairs thinking I was being sweet and calling him babyDoes she answer to Babychino? Saxon answered to his name not long after I renamed him (from Effie!)
Ooh China is a good idea, or maybe 'Cheena'... so that it isn't mispronounced?China? That is not miles from Babychino. It is also not a guinea pig name I have come across on the forum yet in 17 years and with tens of thousands of piggies passing through here.![]()
Dina is cute, but it reminds me of Dina from that show 'Superstore'... and she doesn't have Dina energy I don't think. Ooh Ursula is cute, I like the name ooshee too! and little bear definitely suits her energy!Dina? Rhyming with China.
Ursa? Ursula? (Oorsoola) Which mean bear, little bear. In Germany, girls and women christened Ursula often turn their name into Uschi (ooshee).

I think she will always be babychino/baby to us, but she does need a 'full government name' for her official business, I can see her becoming prime minister!
Yes it definitely is an option thank you! It is good it is recognised name! Thank you about the avatar compliment, I do love it tooI'd considered Cheena but wasn't sure whether it was actually a real name. However, in the UK it is an acknowledged variant of the name China (I just googled) and it is also a girls name in Urdu. Quite a distinctive and unusual name but still a proper name.
So yes, she can happily drop the baby as she grows up - much to your OH's relief- but basically keep the second half of her name. Sometimes the simple solutions are best because they cater to both the familiarity but also to changing circumstances. And your niece can still be proud of having inspired her name.
PS: I love your new avatar!
I’d vote for herHehe thanks so much, I actually have it printed and put on the wall of their cage as a little family portrait! I'm not sure of my thoughts on AI, but chatgpt sure does make a good little portrait!
