Horrible find in Pets at Home Hay

I forgot to say that when I was a student, I found a dead spider in my bed, all dry and flat, the poor thing never had a chance! :)) Unfortunately, it turned out it had bitten me on the leg and the area remained VERY itchy for a long time.

I knew it. Spiders CAN hurt you!

Knew it all along. :a19:

maybe... I'm obviously very begrudging when asleep!:)):)):)) I've been known to attack poor old Maxy in the night (like punch him) for no reason... I've no idea I've done it until he tells me in the morning...@)@)@)

I'm going to have to sign off now. I'm in hysterics at these posts..Spiders, kentucky fried rats, curried mice!!:(|):(|) Not ideal for a good nights sleep. Oooh how I love these post midnight threads!!;)

:)) bless him!

No but I did hear about a Kentucky Fried Rat! The poor unsuspecting woman bit into what she thought was a bit of chicken and it had a tail! This was some time ago, so apologies to anyone who has just came home with a ten piece KFC:(|):(|):(|):(|)

I remember that one.

The fact that it didn't put me off KFC...Is what concerns me the most :(|)

morning all, delighted to say I've not had any bad dreams about incongruous animals found in food!:))

this thread certainly put me in a great moog going to sleep, just what I needed.zzz

Keep them coming!

Oh my, what a horrible discovery.
Thank god i dont get my hay from there.

Huge huge hug's hun xxxxxxx

i quite fancy a kfc :))
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee to the hay though think i wouldve screamed at that but maybe the poor thing was sick of living at pets at home and wanted to be rescued by you and the tarantula too obviously the word about you being a good fosterer/rescuer has got around the animal world :))

Oh no, you poor thing! I don't think I would have controlled myself if I'd found that! :))

I've found a dead bird in my hay before - very sad not a pleasent way to go all smooshed up in a baler! Didn't complain though - it was a huge bale from the local farmer and obviously not as processed as P@H's should be...eeew. >_<

And regards to the free meals? Apparently my boyfriend and his ex used to occasionally, find a dead fly or wasp and take it into a resturant and insert it into one of their meals when they were students to get cheap food...Sneaky begger! (Although this did come up when he had a roast chicken dinner thing and found a *cooked* fly in the middle of his dinner...eewww!)

I buy the pets at home

Woodland hay it wasn't that one was it? I'm going to look for somewere different for my hay anyway I don't really like pets at home! :))

I'm surprised we don't find more nasties in hay really, when you consider it's a field in a bag. I will bring you some of my nice farm hay Suzanne. x

That IS RANK :)>>>:)>>>:)>>>

I so so hope I never come across something like that.

Good luck with pets at home.

aaarghhhh......how horrible. :)>>>
I was just going out to buy some P@H hay...I've changed my mind now.

My piggies like it, but it's too short to make a big cosy bed, as they're outdoors.....I also find it dusty :{

Just phoned pets at home & I have to go in to fill in a product complaint form - they requested that I bring in the creature so MrsM may be right in saying they want to put it up for adoption :)) Aww poor little thing :(
Anyway they said i can have a replacement - as if!!

I would write to head office you should get more than a replacement! The woodland hay I buy costs a fortune for the smallest bag.. I need to find cheap, good quality hay if it exists! :)p

It does exist i'm sure - you are talking to a hay junkie here!

What kind of hay do you want?

Well hay is a natural product so i would not be surprised to find a little mousy in it if it came from a farm, in fact i don;t think i would be shocked at all. But i am a bit surprised that a p@h bale had it in as it is chopped so short i would have thought it would have been processed out. Hope you get a refund and a generous offer of some vouchers for your distress!

joanne it think your piggies are super spoilt if that is the only hay you buy them!

Is that good hay I don't have a clue lol! :)p I have a habit of buying expensive products! mallethead

A bale of meadow hay is about £2.50-£4.00 which must be about 100 times as much in weight, I give my girls a mix of meadow hay, timothy hay and just grass. I have bought a bag of the chamomile hay for a christmas pressie

lol... Can you tell my piggies that, maybe they will start behaving for me if they knew there spoilt rotten lol :)p

Just be careful that they will only eat that stuff. Speciality hays like that are quite addictive though, I'm terrible but am making a big effort to go cold turkey on hay buying :(|)

This has put me off buying hay from there, I don't want to risk finding something when opening a bag.

Will definately be buying from elsewhere in future.

Just thought I'd update on this.
I went to pets at home earlier with the hay & creature - they were horrified to be honest & said it looked like bat's legs :)>>>
Anyway, I got a refund for the hay & other items on my receipt, a new bag of hay (not pets at home I might add) and some nice cardboard carriers - which will come in handy for transporting Kira's piggies on friday :)) I filled in a complaint form & have to wait for a reply from head office - all in all I was quite happy with the way they handled it although I will not be buying hay from there again!
