... to tell us what’s going on. I do my best but it’s guess work at times.
Yesterday during the day Holly was just a bit quiet. No other symptoms. Nothing I could report to a vet. Just a bit less nosey than normal. Still up at the bars but less enthusiastic in her “look at me” ways. So subtle even MrA couldn’t see the difference and thought I was over analysing.

Last night she picked at her tea so I decided I would get her into the vets today. She does have I C flares from time to time. So I thought it might be that. Then during the evening she bloated up and went into stasis. After a night of massaging and syringe feeding to get some input and output she’s been admitted to the vets for further treatment today.

If only she could have told me or given me some sort of signal what the problem was!

Aw, so sorry Holly is poorly, hoping she’s better soon x
Yes, life would be so much easier if they could tell us how they feel 😊

Wishing Holly a speedy recovery and you peace of mind. Another brilliant example of vigilance leading to quick treatment 😊

Poor Holly, paws crossed the vet can get some gut stimulant meds in and get her pooping again, it would be so much easier if they could tell us... or have some sort of dashboard warning light on their ears or bum that alerts you its vet time!

Sorry to hear Holly is poorly - hope she soon recovers very soon - you knew ....and thank goodness you kept a check on her. Take care 🥰

It amazes me sometimes how the things we notice can be so tiny they're almost imperceptible but we know there's something wrong. Hope Holly is feeling better 🙂

Poor Holly, it would be very helpful if they could talk! It just shows that you should always go with your gut you knew something wasn’t right and you were right! Wishing Holly a speedy recovery!

Well done for noticing Vicki - it astonishes me how quickly they can deteriorate and how subtle the sign can be.
Wishing Miss Holly a speedy recovery and you a better nights sleep tonight.

Thank you all. The vets have called to say she is still not eating or drinking anything for herself but is looking “brighter”. But in fairness as they said she looked quite bright this morning despite how ill she really was. Still no idea why she has gone into stasis.

They are keeping her till 6pm to give her another round of treatments before she comes home to me to continue with them here & see how we go. Another long night of syringe feeding and meds ahead with my feisty one. To be honest it’s what I expected.

I just wish we could train them to give some sort of signal to indicate when they are brewing something. They are so private and determined to hide it from the world. But a little secret signal to their slaves would be just ever so helpful in preventing a crisis!

The Receptionists at my vets call that "Mummy Love". (When only you know that something is wrong that nobody else would pick up on).

Hope Holly is soon feeling better Vicki.

That description of “mummy love” sums it up, doesn’t it? I remember when the boys were tiny and we had an ongoing issue with one of them the paediatrician told me that the first rule of paediatrics was to listen to the parents - they know their child better than anyone. Must be the same for vets.

Sorry that Holly isn’t well.
Good for you picking it up so quickly.
Hope she does recover quickly with all the love and care she’ll have from you.

Ah VickiA it will be a long night for you and Holly - I hope she is looking a bit better when you bring her home - good luck and we’re all sending our thoughts and love to you both 🥰

She’s just had her bedtime meds and a feed of Emeraid plus drinks of water. She was able to communicate very clearly when to stop the Emeraid syringe and when to offer the water one. And also when she was done. If only we could train them to let us know it’s time to take them to the vet!

it would be much easier if cats and guinea pigs could speak english,no doubt other pets ! but i would think the vocabularly could be quite blue at times ! i hope Holly makes a speedy recovery.xx

Oh @eileen you’ve made me laugh. She’s a real mutterer I bet she’d be swearing at Randy Ralph most of the time.

Sorry to hear Holly is unwell. It’s funny how little things can have us on alert. Hope she starts feeling better soon.

Poor Holly... sending big hugs to you both :hug:hope she starting picking up again soon - she’s in the best hands!

I’m hoping today has been a good day for Holly - you must feel very tired so take care VickiA
