How long does it take you every day to do all the essentials for your piggy?

I think I spend about an hour every day and an hour and a half to 2 hours every 3 days.

Each day the regular jobs are:
Clean out the litter trays, wash, dry, fill up with fresh newspaper and hay
Sweep out the three floors of the c&c. As Mork has recently had an op I am cleaning that cage out totally every day at the moment so getting everything out, cleaning the plastic bottom and replacing everything with clean fresh stuff (can't wait for him to be totally healed!)
The of course there is veggie time twice daily, washing veg, chopping veg, serving veg.
Topping up hay and pellets
Rinsing water bottles and replacing water

I am not counting lap time or getting them out for a run as that's fun time!

Then every 3 days I completely clean out the 3 storey cage and that takes a while - between an hour and an hour and a half depending on whether I go flat out or not. Today I had to do it with the girls still in the cage as Mork was enjoying the run so much I didn't want to get him out.

So how long does it take you? I know I asked Bonnie a while ago (before she upped her pig quota) and it was about 45 minutes for loads of cages which I think is pretty amazing - she must be way fast.

Your piggies are definitely very cleaned! I change the litter tray area of my cage every 2 or 3 days, which involves rolling up the newspaper and hay, spray and wipe and replace takes at most 15 minutes. To clean the whole cage 30 minutes max, involving putting them in the bathroom for a runabout. Food & water probably takes another 15 minutes, but then i only have the two!

That's the thing the three in the rabbit cage would be really quick. It's the c&c that's the thing. With 6 of them in the litter trays they really can't wait more than a day. They get really stinky really fast!

I honestly can't say how long it takes me hun as i'm constantly up and down the stairs checking on them making sure all is ok and they have enough hay, water, food and cuddles.

You are a very good piggy mummy xxxxx

it usually takes me about 20 minutes to feed them all and top up their hay in the morning, but when I gets home from work it's usually takes me an hour everynight to hoover out their poos, give fresh food, hay and water. When I swap the gps over into the runs, as they have 2 nights in and 2 nights out on a rota basis, and this usually takes me an hour and a half to 2 hours to do this.

Glad it's not just me taking ages then. It's much more work than than I thought it would. Not that I mind just curious incase multiple guinea owners have some time saving tips!

It's on here I leanred how to get the litter trays to work for me and that's saved me doing a full clean every other day.

I give mine vegetables in the morning before work and it takes me about 10 mins to chop it up, then i give there cage a quick clean so for the morning 15 mins and then in the evening they come out for floor-time and i clean the cage by poop picking and get rid of bits of dirt hay and any wet patches from the megazorb. I then top up hay and clean food bowls & top them up, refill and clean water bottle. I also hide food around and tidy there little houses which were recenlty made by my dad and are a new addition to the cage. This takes me about 20 mins by i do only have two. :)
I put in veg when they go back in from having floortime and i do pick grass/dandelions from the garden for them for floor-time.

I forgot to add i also then clean the floor from floortime which takes another 10mins.

I was advised to put the litter and hay balls above the litter tray so ALL hay eating happens in the litter tray. I use really cheap soft hay in the trays and paper underneath and every day they need to be changed big time but like I say there are six of them using the trays.

All food happens on one floor too.

They do go to the toilet in other places too esp where they all have their mothers meetings lol. But I put paper and towels and two layers of fleece there and change the paper and towel every day but leave the fleece until the third day.

it takes me around 2 hours per day.then every 2 days i do a full clean which can take up to 4 hours to do this doesn't include lap time and medicine time....at the mo a rescue is needing treatment 5 times a day just on him...

In the morning it takes me about 10 minutes - I check water and hay and put some vegetables in for them all. Then in the evening about an hour - an hour and a half, sweeping woodshavings up if they've pushed it out the hutch, giving them fresh newspaper, water, food, hay and dandelions. I have 8 guinea-pigs.
My guinea-pigs only have vegetables once a day and most of you give them twice a day, am I doing it wrong or do you just share it out so give half in the morning and half in the evening?

The bare necessities are veggies, top up of hay, refill water bottle and poop-patrol. If I'm not dawdling by the cage this takes no more than 15 minutes and that's including cleaning the water bottle.
As for cleaning the cage I change fleece and towels every 2-3 days, it takes 10 minutes and once a week I clean out the hay crate (which has paper kitty litter). That probably takes a total of 15 minutes because once emptied I take the whole crate to the shower to wash it out. If the piggies are healthy their care is not time consuming at all, it's watching them like an addictive soap that takes time!
I guess you should also count the two loads of piggy laundry I do a week. That's about an hour of effective work.

On an average day, it takes around half an hour to do the morning "tidy up":

- Fresh filtered water;
- New paper and hay in the hay trays;
- Fresh pellets in clean dishes;
- Hoover out all the poops.

Then I spend at least half an hour in the evening topping up the hay and pellets and getting their salad ready. Overal the basics take an hour each day. It's another half an hour on top of that if it's a big cage clean day, completely changing out the flece and putting fresh in.

Floor time varies day to day; sometimes only one group will come out for an hour, sometimes I get all four groups out over the space of 3 hours.
