Every morning it takes me roughly 40 mins and that's just new water, food, hay, clean out hay boxes, hoover cages, and change pee pads. I have two 2x9 stacked c&c cages. All the utube videos I watch people seem to have the cages all done in a matter of 5-10 mins! Am I just super slow or something? Lol. The 40 mins is from me going in until everything is done and back in its place again. That's not including changing liners etc, on these days it's about 1 hour probably in total. What size is your cage and how long does it take you? X

I've got 2 sows in a 4 x 2 foot cage. It takes me 5-10 mins twice a day just to top up water, food and hay plus a quick spot clean and then about an hour once a week to do a full clean which includes changing everything and washing it all out.

I have two adults and two babies. They were in a 3x2 with a 1x2.5 extension. It used to take me about 20 mins to spot clean, top off water and hay and well as feed veg. This morning with my new 4x5 set up it took me closer to 30mins.

That doesn't make me feel so bad lol. I do think I probably faff a lot and get distracted and end up playing with the pigs instead of doing what I'm supposed to! ☺️. The hay boxes probably take me an extra 10 mins as these get emptied and cleaned every morning. Mines not even counting veg tho! I do that twice a day in the afternoon and again in the evening....not that it takes long. I guess also with it being two separate cages there are more of everything. There are 4 bottles, 4 hay racks, 8 bowls etc, so more cleaning....I really am trying to justify it now! Lmao X

Yeah the trays are most work for me too every morning. I also usually end up at the cage for a good hour if I am not pressed for time to get to work. I cant help watching them and petting and talking. How can I with those big eyes and lips looking up at me!

Love your cages. Mine is 6 x 3.5 and takes ages as hard to reach to the back. Full clean takes over an hour

I have four cages. Twice a week it takes almost two hours to fully clean all the cages. We, meaning me and my four kids, take everything out of their cages wash it, dump any old food/hay, scrub them down. We take some stuff outside and hose it down. Not sure what we are going to do in the winter time

Do you use fleece or disposable bedding? I'm a bit worried about winter too as I take all my fleece stuff outside for a good shake before washing and then I need to dry it all! I think some may end up in the tumble drier as I'll need my radiators to heat the house! Lol X

That was my worry. I was going to extend part of my bottom cage out to make it 3 across instead of 2, but then I thought about trying to clean in the corners, especially with it being L shaped and having a cage on top. In the end decided to make one of the grids be able to open so I can just let them run around the room as well as their cage. Love the idea of having 3 across tho, would give them much more room :). Any pics of your cage? X

2 sows in a 7x4 c and c cage with a 4x1 loft. They've got 4 hay boxes each and 3 other hide houses with hay in them and 4 water bottles and 3 hay bowls. I change their hay twice a day and poo pick and sweep throughout the day. I spend 40 minutes in the morning and the same at night. If it's a full fleece change and cage clean then it's about 2 hours .. it's exhausting work

How do you reach the back? I find it very hard with 3.5 x 6

I have got two 4x2 c&c and then there's Ted and chewys huge run that they have prob the equivalent too a 4x5 c&c housed in those are 6 boars (3 bonded pairs) every morning it takes me 1 hour too clean 6 hay trays, 6 water bottles, 6 food bowls poop pick up and check pee pads (sometimes I cheat and turn them over for a day) then filling it all back up. The night isn't as long prob about 30 mins as it's just topping up hay, food and prep veg, I'd say the longest part of that is trying to avoid teds obsession with the dust pan and brush which he has now taught chewy yay

As for deep clean I have learned to do each on different days as that takes 2 hours cus I like too play too :D

Wow! Lucky lucky girls! I'm sure they love all that space! :). What do you do in the 40mins again in the evening? I just do a quick hoover at night so only takes around 10 mins X

I'm so glad I asked my question! Glad I'm not alone in the time it takes....I though I was maybe just really slow at everything I do. In one particular video I watch 3 cages have fleece changed over in around 5-10 mins....although I suppose thinking about it she didn't clean the base of the cages or top up hay/food/water, and doesn't have hay boxes to clean out. I don't mind spending the time doing it tho, I find it pretty relaxing!? Lol. Mine love the dustpan and brush too ....a few of them even like the Hoover! ☺️ X

I change their hay boxes and water bottles again at night and poo pick. It just takes so long because they have so many hay boxes and the loft i's full of hay as well and I change that twice a day. They better appreciate the life of luxury they have! :D

They are seriously spoilt piggies....if I come back as anything I'd like to be one of your pigs ☺️ X

Fleece. I don't like washing it in the washer. So a little concerned about that in the winter. :(

How do you wash it? If you are putting it in your washing machine over the winter put it in an old duvet and tie it closed with a hairband or use a horse washbag, should prevent anything getting stuck on your machine. I just shake mine off and throw it in....haven't had any problems as of yet! Do keep meaning to order the horsebag just in case, but I'm worried that because my liners are quite big only one fits in at a time and being inside a washbag it may not wash properly as not enough room to move about X

I shake it out and for now, since it is summer we rinse with the power hose then (since it is 91 degrees here!) it dries outside. Then we wash it inside with detergent and vinegar. But the HAY! Hay sticks to everything and hay is everywhere. I don't want that to get stuck in my pipes.

I don't get much hay stuck in mine. I use a handheld Hoover/vacuum to spot clean....maybe that helps? Also have hay boxes to keep the hay contained X

Does hay get stuck in the vacuum? I have a dyson, which is a great but I am afraid it will get stuck and break it. My piggies like to drag their hay everywhere even when I put it in a box. ;)

I use a little handheld one specifically for the pigs. You just open and empty it if the hay gets stuck. Much quicker than scooping too :) X

I have 2 boars in a 2x4 cage and since my first boar refused hay racks, a hay bag, and would refuse any hay on the floor of the cage after he'd gone on it my two now eat hay out of a second bowl (much larger than the Guinea pig food bowls of course since they need unlimited hay). This means to change food water hay it takes me about 5 minutes and another 5 to spot clean. I wish they would use a rack or bag though! It would give them so much more floor space
