Just out of interest how long has everyone been a member of the guinea pig forum for? How did it start off? :) and how many guinea pigs does everyone have? :D I've noticed quite a few people seem to know each other quite well too! Is that through the forum or in real life?! :D just being nosey! šŸ˜…

Quite a few of us have met at Forum Meets which were held around 3 or 4 times a year in various places around the Country before the pandemic mainly Salisbury, Birmingham and Manchester. Its a great way to meet piggie people and talk piggie and not bore the pants of everyone! A few of us have been to each other's houses too. If restrictions allow, I am going to visit @Merab's Slave in May which was postponed from last July.

I've been a member since March 2017 a year into my current piggy owning. I joined because I was cruising the internet about piggies and found this forum to be informative and friendly. I did have 5 piggies which became 4, then after a year became 5 again and now I have 3.

The forum was started by @furryfriends (TEAS) ’s Daughter Ellie. I’m not sure how long ago that was.

I joined as a member in November 2013 but had been lurking for at least 3 years. I only finally joined to help out in transporting a pair of piggies from near me who were being surrendered and headed to a rescue in Rugby. It was a complicated affair - it was @The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue ’s animal fair at Kidsgrove and @Wiebke was attending and said she could take the piggies on to Rugby. I’d already met Helen, but as a result of becoming part of piggy transport that day I met @Wiebke, @karonus, @sport_billy and several other notable members. Having broken the ice with them I then went to the next forum meet up in Birmingham and have been going to as many meets as possible ever since. That’s how we get to know each other on and off the forum. Sadly due to the virus we haven’t had any meets recently.

Oh wow that's so interesting. I had no idea the forum even did meets. What a lovely idea and that also explains alot! I had wondered but didn't want to ask how you all knew each other during an unrelated thread! But how lovely to know each other in person too. I'm sorry for your losses also. ā¤ļø

Ohh that's so lovely! and had no idea TEAS's daughter created the forum! So you guys were working as part of the guinea pig rescue at the time? :) You've been a member for a very long time! How many piggies do you have?:)

Interesting topic šŸ˜‚
So apparently been registered since 2017, but can go months without being on.
Never met anyone, but was aware there were meets. I didn't feel confident going as seen many members are friends and felt awkward crashing the party :))

I wasn’t part of the Potteries GPR at the time, but I had adopted off Helen. I was just helping with transport on that occasion. She recruited me and @Flutterby into the rescue a while later.
I’ve got 2 trios now and no fosters at present.

I've been on here just over a year. I've had piggies for 2 and a half years. When I first got piggies my care was terrible and although I used the forum for research without joining I was ashamed to show pigtures or talk to people until I was giving my boys a life I could be proud of. A whole lot of C&C grids later and here I am.

I would love to go to a meet one day despite my social anxiety.

I felt like that at my first Meet but everyone is so lovely, friendly and welcoming you won't feel awkward at all.

It’s always a bit of a baptism of fire going to your first forum event - but we are a very inclusive group and it isn’t cliquey. In fact it’s a bit like the Mad Hatters Tea Party (with food and alcohol) and everyone moving round the table chatting to everyone who’s come.

Awe me too. You provide your piggies with such an amazing life! They're very lucky! I think sometimes piggies have to go through nasty hay and a smaller cage so they appreciate it more when they have luxury hay and cage upgrades! šŸ˜… and new toys!
