Hi all! Does anyone know how long ringworm in Guinea pigs last? How long does it stay contagious after you start treating it with anti fungal creams and shampoos?

This is what it looked like before I started the treatment. Now the patches are bald but are really smoothe. Be interested to hear your experiences with ring worm if you have any 😊

It’s contagious while spores are still shedding and it’s still crusty. Spores live in the tiniest of crevices in the environment for two years so hygiene is essential.

The problem with creaming is that it only gets the areas you cream but actually the spores cover a wider area and can be shed from those areas, continuing the risk. This is why creaming is the least effective method. Bathing better because it
covers the whole body but as piggy has it on his/her face then you obviously you have to be very careful around eyes. Oral treatment is the best as it obviously covers the whole body.

The second picture isn’t quite in shot enough but the area around her eye doesnt look angry than the first picture
