I use to eat super healthy anyways when I was younger, worked out and did amateur boxing.
My whole diet use to be based around veggies, fruits, nuts nad lots of different types of high-protein meats too but all in portions and scaled out.
But, over the last 3 years after I quit boxing, my diet has really gone down hill.
It would be BBQ every other day, beer and hard liquor, Mcdonalds, KFC, hotdogs and burgers at home etc... Everything meat and rarely fruits and veggies.
In the last 3 and a half months since I've had my pigs, I have started eating a lot better, I eat everything the pigs do and while I'm at the grocery store I pick up many different types of fresh greens I haven't eaten in years.
I feel so much better and I am actually dropping weight due to eating healthy once again, and I owe it all to my guinea pigs.

Who else is on the same boat? Doesn't matter if you had a bad diet over the last few years or not, but has your guinea pigs made a difference in the foods you eat now?

Nope, my diet is the same as ever. Being a very fussy eater my food intake is limited.

I wished it made me healthier lol I have a massive fridge and the whole bottom quarter is filled with fresh piggie food. I feel bad when I nick a few fresh carrots or peppers occasionally, I swear they know :)) they give me dirty looks when I go in the shed lol

In a way I have changed my eating habits. When I first got the boys, I tried introducing them to every fruit and veg that the charts said was good for them. Hazelnut turns his nose up at everything except parsley, carrots and any type of lettuce (cos, baby cos, red oak, green oak, butternut - even iceberg as we discovered by accident one day, we don't actually feed it to them). Peanut Butter would nibble on every food but soon stop when he noticed H wasn't eating it. So I ended up consuming all the unwanted fruit&veg and this went on for weeks as I kept trying new foods with the boys, so I was consuming plenty of plant matter in those early days!

The 3 veg they have settled on, I cut it up in piggy bite size pieces for them. If however, the knife slips I eat all the pieces I don't think are quite the right size for the boys!

The one member of the family who has really changed his eating habits is the dog. He begs for carrots every time the piggies get them. We never knew he liked carrots before that. So now he gets carrots to eat!

I'm a veggie, but not a particularly healthy eater. I do feel virtuous walking round the supermarket with loads of veggies. No-one else knows its all for the buns and pigs :))

Ha ha it's much the same as when I put trainers on. I feel healthier without actually doing the running. Can you tell I'm really an awful slob ;)

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!
I have been an awful slob for a while, I am no position to say that to anyone :p

I am a vegetarian.

Being vegetarian or eating meat does not make a difference, trust me, my whole life use to be based around healthy eating.
If you eat the right meats, veggies, fruits, nuts etc.... And the right portions with exercise, you will be much healthier than a vegetarian alone that exercises the same as you for the rest of your life. :)

Oo yeah, and steamed rice is KEY in healthy eating, you can be 60 and look like your 30 - 40. Believe me I have seen it.

If anything I'm less healthy as the fridge is full of things for guinea pigs and rabbits and I don't feel I can eat things they like. Need another fridge just for them.

One thing i have noticed is that we never through vegetables and fruit away anymore, not now we have our own personal food recycling service.

I've always been a lover of veg and never really took to fruit until we got the pigs.

I only give the pigs a small amount of fruit and what evers left over i always seem to eat as i've either done them too much or there's not enough left to go round the pigs and i really really hate wasting food lol
