as i mentioned in my previous post, one of my girls has a cut on her nose and just below her eye from a squabble between her and her sister. the cut is healing however she keeps scratching it, often to the point of tearing off the scab and drawing blood again. she's obviously causing herself pain when she scratches it like this. is there anything i can do to stop her from scratching it or anything i can do to ease the itchiness of the healing wound? i hate to see her in pain :(

edit: i have taken her to the vets and it's definitely not mange or ringworm, just a cut from where they've been squabbling

I don’t know that there’s anything you can do. You can’t dress it or anything like that. What did the vet say?

the vet didn't really say much unfortunately, just that i should try and keep them separate while she healed but it's basically impossible to separate them because they get really loud and stressed when i try and put a divider in the cage

Why separate them? It may have just been a misplaced swipe. I wouldn’t separate them as they obviously don’t like it. Hope she gets better soon.

All I can suggest is cutting her nails short but I really don’t think there is much you can do sadly

the advice is appreciated, thank you. i'll give her nails a bit of a trim and hope for the best. i have also been cleaning off the wound with water every day

yes i didn't want to separate them anyway as i'm still trying to bond them and i don't want to interrupt the natural process

@Siikibam - would it be possible to use a bit of Sudocrem or might she try to eat it? (One vet recommended it to me before for urine scald on my sow as she battled a stubborn UTI that made her dribble, and it worked for that)

Hmmm I would probably say no. If the vet hasn’t said to apply anything I wouldn’t.

:agr:
Sudocrem can be very drying on sensitive skin so I wouldn't recommend using it in any event. I know I could never use it on my children without it making the issue worse

i have put a tiny bit on as a last resort and will be keeping a close eye on her

Please do not apply it again. It’s not advised you use sudocrem on piggies at all.
