What is the best style hutch for 5 guinea pigs outside? I have an opened bottomed one but saw a fox sniffing around it last night. Looking for a solid bottomed one now. Any suggestions?

A single level hutch which is at least 8ft by 2ft (approx 250cm by 60cm) is needed for five guinea pigs. Ideally they sit on high legs or can be propped up on bricks to be kept away from the ground. I know that we have helped you in the past when you linked a website but none of the hutches on that site were suitable as they weren’t big enough. I’m the UK, it can be difficult to find hutches of that size suitable for five guinea pigs. Having one custom made is a good option but they are expensive. You had mentioned getting them a shed?

Images of a single level hutch but that one has short legs.
Or a double hutch is fine but rememeber that only one level counts as their living space when it comes to calculating their hutch size (so a double hutch still needs to be approx 250cm) so being two floors does not make it double the size.
(The ones in these pictures are too small but you can see that they are good sturdy hutches)

I have a Chartwell 6ft X 2ft hutch 2 level hutch. It was the largest I could get that I could afford. It isn't quite large enough for all 5 together but very often 1of them is upstairs having time out. I also need to have 2 levels cos I have the unusual situation of 2 boys living with 3 girls so if the boys ever start fighting I have to be able to split them up. I would have Betsy with Dennis and Christian with Velvet and Meg.

Teazel2017 is in Australia and if i remember correctly from a previous post, finding hutches at an appropriate size over there was proving tricky.
Really tricky!
Perhaps you could fix 2 hutches together? You could saw the end off one and the other end off the second hutch and fix them together somehow? :mal::D
I had thought of that lol! But would be about $400 for the 2 hutches.:hmm::roll::td:

Moved the hutch right up to our house but as soon as it got dark foxie came RIGHT UP TO THE FRONT DOOR TOO! EEK!

No. I can't bring them in.

Do you have solid bolts on your hutch and does it have fox proof wire? I would go as far as putting a couple of padlocks on there as foxes can be very sneaky and once they know your piggies are there, they will keep coming back
