My beautiful piggy Logan, has passed away this morning. 8...

No sign of illness, eating, drinking, pooping, 'chatting'...then, nothing. He was laid on his back by the entrance to the bed part, with Finn trapped inside.

I am so shocked and devastated, he was only 2 years old and at his last vet check was 'fit as a butchers dog' according to the vet. I am so worried it was something that I did, I feel like such a failure.

I am going to miss my beautiful boy so much. Finn is so quiet and hasn't come out of his bed yet. I worry for him, they were brothers and I adopted them when they were tiny babies. They have always been together and shared such a strong bond.

Here is Logan, my perfect piggy...

What an awful shock for you. I am so sorry for your loss. How tragic. :(

That must have been such a horrible shock.
Poor Logan and also you.:(
As Wiebke often says, conditions such as heart failure can strike pigs of any ages but it still a big shock. Would talking to your vet put your mind at rest about the cause maybe? I am sure it was not something you did.

Oh no, what an awful shock. Really sorry for the loss of your stunning little boy. It was obviously something very sudden and nothing you could have done to prevent it. You are not a failure. *massive hugs*
Keep a close eye on Finn for a few days, when we lost Pitch, we were so worried for Putt her sister, they had never been apart. Putt was quiet for a few days and lost a little weight but picked up.
Lots of love to you and Finn. x x

RIP Logan

Thank you for that. I think maybe it was his heart. I am keeping my eye on Finn, he is so sad. :(

When he has grieved, I will look into pairing him up with a new friend.

I have been checking all my other piggies...making sure they are all ok.

Oh I'm so sorry ;( that's horribly sad. Sometimes these things just happen & we never know why you shouldn't blame yourself.
I recently lost one of my boys & they were very close twins, I have a new boy Now & they get on ok although they aren't nearly as clos yet.

I'm sure you will find a buddy for your little man when he time is right xx

Oh no. I'm so so sorry for your loss. What an awful shock. RIP Logan, run free over the bridge.
Thinking of you.

What a horrible shock. This is how my Alvin passed. I consoled myslef with the thought that he didnt suffer, but I know how shocked and in pain you will be feeling right now. Huge hugs x

:( I am so so sorry, what an awful shock. Huge hugs to you, rest in peace Logan, he was beautiful x

I have now lost two apparently healthy, fit piggies even before or just after their second birthday, and I am by no means alone; it seems to happen much more often these days! :(:(:(

It is a very upsetting and heart breaking experience and one you simply cannot brace for! Please don't think that it is anything that is your fault!

If there is anybody to blame, then it is the people who breed piggies for mass production to sell in shops without thought for any genetic damage that this kind of careless breeding can - and will - cause. mallethead

Thank you everyone for your kind words. :)

Finn has been out and had a drink, some food and a cuddle.

I spent hours with these two (as I do all my piggies) and Logan was so easy to handle and loved to sit with me. He was my photogenic little guy, I have loads of pics of him. Really gonna miss him!

I think his mum was already pregnant when she came into rescue, and she had three babies, my two boys and a little girl. My boys were just so beautiful, but I believe there must have been some inbreeding somewhere. It's just all so sad :(.

At least Logan has left you with loads of precious memories once the worst of the pain has passed. Give it time - you often waver between phases when you feel the need to go through all the pictures and then there are times when looking at them just hurts too much. But there will hopefully come the point when you are just grateful for having had him in your life and for all the love and happiness he has brought you. I have pictures of all my RIP piggies on a shelf in my bedroom where I can look at them when I go to bed and let them guard my sleep.

Make sure that Finn has got something with Logan's scent to snuggle up to until it has faded and until you feel up to take him boar dating.

My hubby has just given me some chocolates...he bought them to try to 'cheer me up' today while I was at the dentists with my son. :)

I am so sorry you have lost your lovely pig. It sounds as if it was really quick and peaceful. Nothing you could have done, I had one that just did that, he looked as if he had closed his eyes and decided to cross over. Hugs to you and your family, 2 legs and 4 paws. xx

I'm so sorry for your loss, I lost one of my little boy pigs at only 2 from bone cancer its the worst feeling in the world .. sending you lots of hugs... He is popcorning at the bridge now x

So sorry to hear this sad news :( :(
Very sorry for you loss.

Awww, so, so sorry to hear about Logan. RIP 'big fella'. He was a lovely boy and very much loved by his mummy. He couldn't have asked for a better life and I know how much you will miss him. Big hugs from all at Milhaven.

I can still see Logan (and Finn) as those two tiny babies, so much like their gorgeous mama pig and their sister. I remember Logan snuggled in my neck purring...I remember him 'nibbling' my fingers and me 'telling him off'...I remember him cuddled up so close with Finn like two peas in a pod...I remember him wheeking the loudest at dinnertime...I also remember how so very lucky I felt that you allowed me to adopt them and how proud I became of him as he turned into the most amazing piggy ever. I just feel so devestated, I loved him so much. I will never forget him.

I am so very very sorry. RIP beautiful Logan.

I hope Finn, and you, recover from your loss with good memories very soon.

Oh what a stunning boy he was, I can see why you were smitten with him :( i've just given mine all a big cuddle, kisses, clean cage and banana for a treat, you never know when they will be gone so you have to make the most of them whilst they are here. Hugs x
