So my guinea pig has stopped moving around and staying inside his hut all day. He will eat and he is displaying no signs of illness. His eating has decreased a little but he is still eating. I am not sure what is happening

Definitely see a vet asap. Decreased appetite and lethargy (not moving around) are signs that something is not right. The sooner you find out why the easier it will be to treat

Btw I dont live in Texas anymore I live in mason Ohio if anyone were to give me vet recommendations

i Am probably gonna do that but here is m first place

The forum is never here to replace a fully trained vet. A vet should be the first port of call with the experiences of forum members to back it up and as a means to help give the vet some guidance with what to look for/try if they are less experienced

Hi, like @Lady Kelly says, any decrease in appetite or normal activity levels requires a vet check, ideally within a day or two of first noticing symptoms. Do you weigh your piggy regularly so you know if there has been any weight loss? Online information can never replace a hands on examination by a qualified vet. Hope you can get to a vet soon and your piggy is ok...

My mom will not let us take him to the vet she says he will be fine :(

I'm sorry to hear this, in the UK and many other European countries adults have a legal obligation to seek veterinary care for their children's pets, unfortunately this is not always the case in the USA.
Is their another adult such as a relative, neighbour or teacher who might help you take your pet to the vets? Or perhaps a local animal rescue who could help you?
Your piggy does really need a vet check, but in the meantime you might check out the forum guides to make sure that your piggy has all his other needs met regarding companionship, diet, and housing, just to make sure you arent missing anything that might affect his day to day well being. Does he have a friend, and a large enough cage?
Best of luck anyway, you have our support but unfortunately we cannot replace a qualified veterinarian, nor can any online help resource x

Please switch from weighing weekly to weighing daily at the same time each day so you can keep a closer eye on what's happening. What's his weight at the moment?

I can’t add to the advice already given.
A vet visit really is needed.
Holding you in my thoughts

There can be a lot of reasons for behavior changes, starting with ruling out the physical (a lot of pigs express feeling poorly physically by withdrawing, sitting hunched or puffed up in the corner, refusing food, etc.) Any behavior change should start with ruling out the physical. Since your mom won't take him to the vet with you, I would start by weighing him daily (it will give you some guidance as to how well he's eating), looking for normal poops (again, a sign to how much he is eating), and try to entice him with treats. It's also worthy giving him a once-over yourself... you can't give him a full veterinary assessment, but you can look for basic signs of illness or discomfort like gunky eyes, runny nose, obvious wheezing sounds, injuries causing limps or bleeding, whether urine looks bloody or sludgy, etc. Hope this helps a bit, and hope he either goes back to normal soon or you mom realizes the need for assessment if he does not.

So we got to take him the to the vet and he has URI but thats not the bad part he also has lots of air in his stomach and I have to inject a liquid in his body I’m scared I’m a noobie to guinea pig care I just hope I do stuff right

What did they say the liquid was for, and what’s in it? If you can list what medicines they told you to give him maybe we can help. I’ve never heard anyone being told to inject their piggy when it has a uri. Was the vet an exotics vet?

its not uri that I have to inject liquid it’s something that happened to him most likely because of URI

It's highly unusual to be sent home with medication to inject. Please give the names of all medications you have been given and dosages

Or is it subcutaneous fluids? We’ve had those from the emergency vet before now?

@walnutandpeanut we can help you better if we have a clear idea of the medication you have been given.

Can you post a photo of what you have?
Of course if you have any questions about giving medication you should definitely call the vet for clarification, but if it is to syringe feed mashed up food, we can certainly help you with that.

Is this what you have to do?

So sorry for your loss. URIs can be fatal even with very prompt treatment. Please know you did everything you could, be kind to yourself
