this teaches me a lesson the only thing i feel bad for is my other guinea pig I plan on getting him a new buddy soon

There are sadly some real nasties around against which normal antibiotics won't work quickly enough, like streptococcus or pneumococcus, bordetellosis etc... They can kill in a matter of hours despite prompt treatment and leave you devastated.
